Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for manipulating (deleting, downloading to) information from a peripheral device (such as a digital camera or a scanner) through a client computer. A software component within a client application executing on the client computer installs a peripheral device driver for operating the peripheral device on the client computer without re-executing the client application. The software component transfers the information from the peripheral device to the client computer using the peripheral device driver and manipulates, processes the information, uploads the processed information to a web site, or stores the processed information in the client computer without re-executing the client application.
