Abstract: Methods of treatment of conditions which require phytosterol therapy without adversely affecting the bioavailability of lipophilic vitamins or lipophilic drugs, consisting of administering a mixture of phytosterol ester(s) (PS-E) and 1,3-diglyceride(s) (DAG) dissolved in an edible oil or fat are described herein, together with a method of improving weight management and a method of treating metabolic conditions that result in overweight. Dietary nutrients, food supplements and food articles containing said mixture are also described herein.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lipid preparation, said preparation comprising a phosphatidylserine moiety, and poly-unsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) acyl groups, particularly long-chain poly-unsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA) acyl groups such as omega-3 and/or omega-6 acyl groups, wherein said PUFA is covalently bound to said glycerophospholipid. Said lipid preparations are particularly useful in the treatment of mental and cognitive disorders, e.g. ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and Alzheimer's disease. The disclosed preparations present improved bioactivity, and are useful in the treatment of various cognitive and mental conditions and disorders, as well as for maintenance of normal functions of brain-related systems and processes.

Abstract: A lipid preparation including a glycerophospholipid or salt, conjugate and derivatives thereof, particularly phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidyl-inositol (PI), phosphatidylglycerol (PG) and phosphatidic acid (PA), and poly-unsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) acyl groups, particularly long-chain poly-unsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFA) acyl groups such as omega-3 and/or omega-6 acyl groups, wherein said PUFA is covalently bound to said glycerophospholipid. Abstract: A composition of at least one diacylglycerol and at least one phytosterol and/or phytostanol ester dissolved or dispersed in an edible oil and/or edible fat, and further optionally containing monoglycerides. Phytosterol esters may be beta-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol and brassicasterol esters. Phytostanol esters may be stigmasterol, campestanol and sitostanol. The phytosterol and/or phytostanol esters are preferably esters of C14-C22, preferably C16-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic, linoleic, linolenic, palmitic and stearic acids. The diacylglycerol(s) are preferably 1,3-di-fatty acyl glycerol(s). A process for preparing compositions enriched with triacylglycerol(s) and phytosterol and/or phytostanol esters of mainly unsaturated fatty acid(s) or of mainly saturated fatty acid(s). Dietary food supplements and alimentary products derived from the above compositions.
