    Abstract: A method for generating molecular breast imaging (MBI) images includes generating at least one energy spectrum using an emission dataset acquired by imaging a patient, identifying a tail energy region and a peak energy region in the energy spectrum, determining a quantity of counts in the tail energy region and the peak energy region, generating an energy window for the energy spectrum based on the counts in the tail energy region and the peak energy region, and assigning a pixel intensity value to at least one image pixel based on a plurality of counts in the energy window.
