Abstract: Embodiments for a method of providing load balancing over multiple network addresses across an network address translation (NAT) network including a data storage system, that defines an interface group identifying a private network for one or more clients to communicate with a host for read/write operations, configuring, in the server, pre-NAT IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for the one or more clients and adding them to the interface group, upon receiving a client hostname, returning an interface group an IP address to the client that it can use it for a data transfer operation to the data storage system, and incrementing the pre-NAT addresses after the client starts the data transfer operation such that the least used address in the interface group is always selected for the client so as to maintain load-balance across the plurality of clients.

Abstract: Embodiments for a method of providing dynamic load balancing and fail-over in a WAN network. The interface group architecture for WAN is applied to both sides of the source-destination connection to redirect the data movement of read/write operations away from a public network to a private network. The process identifies interface group selection criteria to be invoked on both source and destination servers to select a tenant-specific private network interface for multi-tenant servers. The method provides high availability communication to select the interface for reads/writes as well as load balancing across the interfaces of each interface group, and a failover interface for recovery from interfaces of the interface group.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the storage system maintains a plurality of usage records corresponding to a plurality of logical file system namespaces representing one or more directories each having one or more files, each file being stored in the storage system as a plurality of segments in a deduplicated manner. In one embodiment, the storage system identifies a first set of the usage records corresponding to a first of the file system namespace, wherein the first set of usage records contains information of logical and physical storage space used by one or more of the file system namespaces. According to one aspect of the invention, the storage system determines a percentage of the storage system available to the first file system namespace based on the first set of usage records and a provisioned percent quota.

In some embodiments, this includes detecting a faulty interface, removing outstanding jobs from the faulty interface, distributing the outstanding jobs to other interfaces. In some embodiments, distributing the outstanding jobs includes distributing a first outstanding job to a first lowest counter interface. In some embodiments, a second outstanding job is distributed to a second lowest counter interface.
