Abstract: A lock of the type enabling panic exit, there being a unique drive arrangement from the inner knob to the latch bolt mechanism and the security dead bolt mechanism. This drive utilizes a vertically reciprocable slide at the inside of the door panel, biased in one direction, and shiftable in the other direction by rotation of the inner knob for retraction of both the latch bolt and the security dead bolt. The drive is not responsive to tampering with the spindle elements, e.g. after forced removal of the outside knob. The lock can be employed on either left or right-hand door arrangements, directly, without requiring handing.
