    Abstract: A multiphase motor generator system includes a multiphase induction motor having a plurality of separate terminals, a multiphase inverter coupled to a DC link voltage source and the plurality of terminals of the multiphase induction motor, a plurality of current detectors configured to detect a plurality of currents that flow between the multiphase inverter and the plurality of terminals of the multiphase induction motor, and a controller coupled to the current detectors and the multiphase inverter, and configured to receive the detected currents and output a plurality of control voltages to the multiphase inverter. The controller includes a multiphase to direct-quadrature (dq) conversion unit, a dq equivalent unit, a dq to multiphase conversion unit, and a pulse-width-modulator (PWM) converter.

The control system may have a controller that is configured to receive a torque command for the motor and receive a rotor angular velocity signal indicative of an angular velocity of a rotor of the motor. The controller may also be configured to generate a field weakening command by adding a field weakening adjustment signal to the rotor angular velocity signal, and generate a torque voltage command and a flux voltage command based on the torque command and the field weakening command. Further, the controller may be configured to convert the torque voltage command and the flux voltage command into phase voltage commands and output the phase voltage commands.

The controller may be further configured to determine an output power of the power inverter based on the output line voltages and output line currents, and determine an amplitude of oscillation in the output power caused by the disturbance frequency. The controller may also be configured to detect an islanding condition, if the amplitude of oscillation is below a threshold.
