Patent number: 9364898Abstract: The present invention relates to the cutting insert having a cutting edge which has a corner section that forms a convex arc shape when seen in a planar view from direction facing the rake face and a linear section that is in contact with the corner section at least at one end of the corner section and extends linearly. The cutting edge is provided with a first region along the corner section when seen in a planar a second region along the linear section and a third region between the first region and the second region. A rake angle of the cutting edge in the third region is made greater than rake angles of the cutting edges in the first region and the second region.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2011Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATIONInventors: Yutaka Nada, Osamu Ichinoseki

Patent number: 7241083Abstract: A thread cutting insert includes main cutting edges that have a pair of thread cutting edges and wiper thread cutting edges for full profile on side edges of a rake face formed on the insert body respectively. The pair of thread cutting edges is formed in a convex V shape as viewed in a plane facing the rake face, and the wiper thread cutting edges for full profile are connected to posterior ends of the thread cutting edges. An inner portion of a V-shaped projection of the rake face, which is formed on the front side of the wiper thread cutting edge for full profile by the pair of thread cutting edges, is formed not to protrude from the thread cutting edges as viewed in the plane.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2005Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Mitsubishi Materials CorporationInventors: Yutaka Nada, Osamu Ichinoseki

Patent number: 5282703Abstract: An indexable cutting insert is disclosed in which, an insert body is formed into a polygonal plate-like shape when viewed from the front, and has a cutting face and a flank face. In the insert body, a cutting edge is formed at an intersection of the cutting face and the flank face. The cutting face is formed into an inclined face downsloped toward the inner side of the front face of the insert body. A breaker face is formed on the front face connected with the cutting face. The breaker face projects outwardly in the direction of the thickness of the insert body with respect to the extended plane stemming from the cutting face. On the cutting face, protrusions projecting out from the cutting face are formed, and when viewed from the front, extend towards the inner side from the periphery of the insert body. The protrusion has a ridge portion, which extends perpendicular to the direction of the thickness of the insert body.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: February 1, 1994Assignee: Mitsubishi Materials CorporationInventors: Takeshi Itaba, Youichi Ishikawa, Osamu Ichinoseki
