  • Patent number: 5259605
Abstract: A sorter, which sorts sheets transferred from an image forming apparatus to form a plurality of sheet stacks and staples each sheet stacks, is disclosed herewith. The sorter is provided with a plurality of bins arrayed in an upright direction for stacking the sorted sheets, and is provided also with a stapler to staple each sheet stack. The bin is adapted to swing horizontally between a first angular position to stack the sorted sheets and a second angular position to undergo the stapling of the sheet stack by the stapler. The stapler is adapted to move along the upright direction through a plurality of stapling positions, and staples each sheet set at each stapling position.

  • Patent number: 5222721
Abstract: A sorter provided with a stapler for use with an image forming apparatus, in which there are provided a plurality of bins each for accommodating various widths of recording sheets delivered from the image forming apparatus, the center of the sheets being positioned in the center of the bins. An aligner aligns the accommodated sheets by pushing the sides of the sheets toward a reference stop wall on each of the bins, and a casing to house the bins is integrated into a unit. The casing is movable in a direction at right angles to a feeding direction of the sheets, and is moved to correspond with the width of the sheets. The home position of the casing is set to a position where the minimum width of sheets are accommodated.

  • Patent number: 5197723
Abstract: An automatic document feeding apparatus in which a plurality of documents are sequentially fed to an image exposure section. Before the completion of the exposure of a foregoing document, the feeding of a following document is started to place the document on a given position before the image exposure section and stopped thereon temporarily for stand-by. The position of the temporary stop of the following document can be varied in accordance with document size detecting signals from a document size detector or selected in such a manner that the distance between the trailing end of the foregoing document and the leading end of the following document becomes constant substantially irrespective of the size of the document.

  • Patent number: 5118089
Abstract: An automatic document feeding apparatus wherein a plurality of sheet-like documents are fed sheet by sheet to an image exposure portion, and discharge the documents by discharge device after exposed by an optical device. Before completion of the exposure operation of a preceding sheet-like document, a succeeding document is stopped temporarily and kept in the stand-by state at least in two stop positions corresponding to document sizes respectively on the upstream side of the image exposure portion, according to a document size detection signal from document size detection device. That a distance from the leading edge of the succeeding document in the temporary stop state to the leading edge of a preceding document in the image exposure portion is set greater than a distance from the trailing edge of the preceding document in the image exposure portion to a discharge position of the discharge device.

  • Patent number: 5001590
Abstract: A magnetic head with a pair of mated core halves, the mating surfaces of the core halves being bonded with a predetermined gap length provided therebetween. The magnetic head has a gap portion where, on each of the mating surfaces of the core halves, a non-magnetic dielectric layer of SiO.sub.2 which is adjacent to the core half, a barrier layer, and a bonding glass layer are successively formed. The glass layers each associated with the corresponding core half are fusion pressure bonded together in such a manner as to form the gap portion.

  • Patent number: 4921325
Abstract: The present invention relates to a connector for connecting optical fiber ribbons to each other, each of ribbons including a plurality of optical fibers spaced in line, and a method of attaching the same. The connector comprises an alignment member for placing the optical fibers in the grooves formed therein, a deformable metal member disposed on the optical fibers in the grooves of the alignment member, and a ferrule incorporated at the front end pportion with both the alignment member and the deformable metal member and adapted at the rear end portion to retain the unexposed portion of the optical fiber ribbon. Accordingly, the optical fibers are fixedly held between the alignment member and the deformable metal member while the ribbon is fixedly held by the rear end portion of the ferrule. The front ends of the optical fibers are cut at the front end of the ferrule.
