  • Patent number: 7359157
Abstract: A head suspension for a disk drive has support plate means (3, 7) serving as a carriage arm and a load beam (5). The load beam consists of a rigid part (13) and a resilient part (15), to apply load to a slider (43) of a head. The support plate means (3, 7) consists of at least layered two plates (3, 7). At least one (7) of the plates (3, 7) has a thickness (t2) appropriate for forming precision holes therethrough by etching. A pivot hole (31) is formed through the plate (7). A loose hole (9) larger than and substantially concentric with the pivot hole is formed through the plate (3). The plates (3, 7) have improved flatness, and the pivot hole has improved accuracy.

  • Patent number: 7304568
Abstract: In a vehicle night vision system, the display unit is activated only when an illumination level below the prescribed level has persisted for more than the prescribed period of time so that the display unit would not be activated when the low illumination level lasts only for a short period of time and the night vision system would not be required. Therefore, when the vehicle passes through a short tunnel during daytime, the display unit would not be activated and the vehicle operator is prevented from being unnecessarily distracted. On the other hand, when the vehicle passes through a long tunnel or when the sun has set and the illumination level of the road ahead is low, the night vision system is activated without fail, and assists the vehicle operator's vision.

  • Patent number: 6720938
Abstract: A head-up display on a vehicle, which calls the attention of the driver or passenger to a dangerous object and makes the driver or passenger reliably recognize a communicated alarm, comprises: an image display device for displaying an image taken by a camera; a detecting device for detecting a target object; a switching device for manually switching between a display state and a warm-up state; and a warning device for outputting a control signal based on the detected result, thereby making the image display device display the image. The brightness for displaying the image according to the control signal is higher than the brightness for displaying the image according to a manual operation of the switching device.

  • Patent number: 6191915
Abstract: A suspension for a disc drive includes a load beam, a flexure that is attached to the load beam and that has a tongue portion as a moving part, and a limiter member that is attached to the flexure and that is used to restrain the angle of inclination of the tongue portion. The flexure includes a pair of outrigger portions, left and right, and the tongue portion is situated between the outrigger portions. The tongue portion carries a head thereon. The limiter member includes arms, detachedly facing the outrigger portions of the flexure in the thickness direction thereof in order to control the angle inclination of the tongue portion, and a front edge portion detachedly facing the rear end portion of the tongue portion in the thickness direction thereof.

  • Patent number: 6046887
Abstract: A suspension comprises a load beam made of a thin metal plate, a flexure made of a thinner metal plate than this load beam and fixed to the load beam, and a wiring portion. The flexure includes a tongue, and a pair of outrigger portions positioned at both sides of the tongue. A slider is provided on the tongue. The wiring portion includes an electrical insulating resin layer provided on the flexure, and an electrical conductive layer laminated on this electrical insulating resin layer. The wiring portion further includes a middle flexible part along the outrigger portions. This middle flexible part is separated from the tongue and outrigger portions, and is in a suspended state in a slit between the tongue and outrigger portions.
