  • Patent number: 6182623
Abstract: In a variable valve control device, the minimum operating hydraulic pressure necessary for controlling the vane rotor is arranged to be higher than that for axially moving the piston member. Thus, whenever the angular phase is actually changed, the hydraulic pressure sufficient enough to move the piston member may be always ready to be applied to the axial movement control member. Therefore, when the intake camshaft is at the lowest lift stroke position, the intake camshaft may be easily shifted from the lowest lift stroke position to the higher lift stroke position without time delay so that a highly accurate angular phase control of the intake camshaft relative to the timing pulley may be secured.

  • Patent number: 6135078
Abstract: A cam has a profile variable from a high lift curve to a low lift curve in an axial direction. A driving mechanism shifts a cam shaft in the axial direction. A phase adjusting mechanism adjusts the rotational phase of the cam shaft relative to a driving shaft of the internal combustion engine. Angle detecting teeth are shift detecting teeth are alternately arranged on a same cylindrical surface of the cam shaft. Each shift detecting tooth incline at a predetermined angle with respect to an axis of the cam shaft so as to provide angularly advanced and retarded portions in a rotational direction of the cam shaft. A pickup generates sensing signals responsive to the angle detecting teeth and the shift detecting teeth. The sensor faces the angularly advanced portion of the shift detecting tooth when the low lift curve of the cam is selected and faces the angularly retarded portion of the shift detecting tooth when the high lift curve of the cam is selected.

  • Patent number: 6118944
Abstract: A flashlight control apparatus having a device for emitting flashlight towards a subject and a device for receiving the light reflected from the subject through a photographing lens. An output is generated which corresponds to the received light which is time-integrated in order to calculate the amount of light received. An optimum integration level is calculated which is to be integrated. This optimum integration level corresponds to an optimum quantity of flashlight to be emitted by the emitting means, based on film speed information. A time limit is also calculated, which is shorter, by a predetermined length of time, than an optimum emission time of the emitting device. This optimum emission time is based on aperture value information and object distance information. The emitting device is controlled to stop emitting flashlight when the time limit elapses, in the case where a quantity of light received by the light receiving devices has reached an optimum quantity before the time limit elapses.

  • Patent number: 6074319
Abstract: An automatic control system for a multiple ratio transmission includes an electronically controlled variable orifice configuration within a discharge circuit for a downshift control system from a high speed ratio to an intermediate speed ratio. The variable orifice configuration divides the discharge circuit into an upstream part communicating with an accumulator chamber of an accumulator and an intermediate brake release pressure chamber defined by a double acting piston of an intermediate ratio brake servo, and a downstream part communicating with a high speed ratio clutch. A calibrated flow control orifice is disposed in the discharge circuit to control discharge flow of oil from said downstream part. • Patent number: 6062183
Abstract: In a variable valve operation control apparatus, an exhaust camshaft and an intake camshaft are held non-movably and movably in the axial direction, respectively. The intake camshaft has a profile varying in the axial direction. A timing pulley and the exhaust camshaft are fixed by a bolt to drive the exhaust camshaft by a crankshaft. A vane rotor is fixed to the exhaust camshaft, while a shoe housing and a gear are held rotatably relative to the vane rotor. Torque gears are provided on the intake camshaft to rotate with the intake camshaft. • Patent number: 6036160
Abstract: A support structure for a motorcycle's rearview mirror is constructed so as to dampen any vibrations which would normally be transmitted to the rearview mirror, and to reduce the risk of rattling noises in the rearview mirror assembly. The support structure includes a mirror stay, in the form of an elongated tubular extension, which serves to distance the rearview mirror from the motorcycle. One end of the mirror stay is connected to the motorcycle through a mirror stay supporting structure, which allows the mirror stay to rotate within a limited range. A rearview mirror housing is connected to the other end of the mirror stay. The connection between the mirror stay and the rearview mirror housing is accomplished by a rearview mirror main body supporting structure. The rearview mirror main body supporting structure allows the mirror housing to assume various orientations relative to the mirror stay.
