  • Publication number: 20060012564
Abstract: A hand-held display apparatus including a body which is gripped by a user's hand, and an interface to output image data. A display is also provided which displays an image received from the interface and vertically inverts the image in response to a vertical inversion signal. The device also includes a plurality of sensors, which are to be manipulated by a user's hand, and are disposed in proximity to the display symmetrically around a horizontal axis in relation to the display section. • Patent number: 6785213
Abstract: Formatting is applied only to a local area which is a part of the entire recordable area of a rewritable disk and which does not include portions where a lead-in area and a lead-out area are to be formed. In other words, only the required minimum area is formatted. The formatted area is extended afterwards as required. Thus, disk formatting is shortened.

  • Patent number: 6144969
Abstract: File name conversion method, and apparatus, for converting a first file name that can be distinguished by a given operating system into a second file name that can be distinguished both by the given operating system and other operating systems. The method and apparatus insure that the first and second file names do not already exist on an associated recording medium prior to recording the first file name on the recording medium and prior to converting the first file name to the second file name. Also provided is a recording medium on which is recorded a file conversion program for converting the first file name to the second file name and for searching whether or not the file names exist on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6138203
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and information processing method enables a write once type disc to be used as a rewritable recording medium. There can be realized an address control mechanism wherein even if the physical recording position is changed, the logical address of the same block is not changed by controlling the physical recording position on the recording medium on an imaginary address space in correspondence to the logical address. Thus the write once type recording medium can be realized as a rewritable recording medium. In addition, by monitoring the writable residual capacity, the recording medium can record data which is made or being updated in the memory.

  • Patent number: 6134626
Abstract: In an information recording method and its device to sequentially write data on a recording medium on a fixed data basis, a command to write the first data formed of the fixed data basis is transmitted from the fixed file system to the writing means of the recording medium, and an actual write result of the first data is returned from the writing means to the file system delaying for the fixed number of commands from the time of transmitting the first data. By inserting link blocks on the data sequence to be recorded on the recording medium and sequentially writing a plurality of packets, the write position shift can be prevented, and by returning an actual write result delaying for the predetermined number of commands, the data writing that is error retrievable using the write cache can be realized.

  • Patent number: 5920526
Abstract: An optical disc recording device is disclosed in which RF signals reproduced from a write-once optical disc are detected during track jump for detecting the boundary between a recorded area and an unrecorded area on the write-once optical disc. This defines a roughly defined boundary between the recorded and unrecorded areas which may be searched quickly. A more strictly defined boundary between the recorded and unrecorded areas, may be searched quickly by subsequently employing a binary search method to the roughly detected boundary.

  • Patent number: 5737289
Abstract: In this invention, a partition within a test write area on an optical disc is divided into a plurality of sub-partitions to record test write data by different plural recording laser drive powers within respective subcode frames constituting the sub-partitions to determine an optimum laser drive power for recording from an average value of asymmetry values obtained by reproducing respective data recorded by the plural laser drive powers, thereby making it possible to carry out OPC operations of which number is more than 100 which is the maximum number of the OPC operations in the prior art. Accordingly, also in the case where data recording operations more than the maximum number of the conventional data recording operations, i.e., 100 times of operations are carried out, it is possible to maintain quality of recording data.
