  • Patent number: 10654332
Abstract: An automatic tilting vehicle comprises left and right front wheels and a rear wheel. A control unit controls a vehicle tilting device so that the tilt angle of the vehicle becomes the target tilt angle. The control device is configured to swingingly vibrates the vehicle in the lateral direction by tilting the vehicle by the vehicle tilting device, to estimate a height of the center of gravity of the vehicle based on a resonance period of swinging vibration of the vehicle, and to correct the target tilt angle such that a perpendicular passing through the estimated center of gravity passes within a range of a triangle formed by connecting grounding points of the left and right front wheels and a grounding point of the rear wheel.

  • Patent number: 10427746
Abstract: An automatic tilting vehicle includes left and right wheels rotatably supported by carriers, a vehicle tilting device, and a control unit. The vehicle tilting device includes a swing member swinging about a swing axis, an actuator that swings the swing member, a pair of tie rods pivotally connected to the swing member and the carriers. The control unit controls the actuator so that the tilt angle of the vehicle conforms to a target tilt angle and determines that the vehicle tilting device is abnormal when a relationship between the swing angular velocity of the swing member and the tilt angular velocity of the vehicle deviates from an allowable range.

  • Publication number: 20060186728
Abstract: A suspension apparatus includes a fluid cylinder for a wheel of a vehicle; at least one of a first controller and a second controller; and a third controller. The fluid cylinder for the wheel of the vehicle is provided between a wheel-holding device that holds the wheel and the vehicle body. The first controller includes (a) an accumulator connected to the fluid cylinder; and (b) an electromagnetic control valve provided between the accumulator and the fluid cylinder. The second controller includes (a) a fluid source that includes a high-pressure source and a low-pressure source; and (b) an electromagnetic control valve, provided between the fluid source and the fluid cylinder, which controls the flow of fluid between the fluid cylinder and the fluid source. The third controller suppresses the pulsation of the fluid caused by operating the electromagnetic control valve included in at least one of the first controller and the second controller.

  • Patent number: 5564680
Abstract: A hydropneumatic shock absorber includes an inlet valve and an outlet valve. The inlet valve opens when the piston moves in a contracting direction so that fluid is sucked into a pump chamber, and the outlet valve opens when the piston moves in an extending direction so that the fluid is discharged from the pump chamber into a high-pressure operating chamber. Thus, the pressure in the high-pressure operating chamber does not increase when the wheel bounces, and the oscillation encountered while the vehicle is traveling is properly absorbed so that good riding comfort is realized.

  • Patent number: 4821191
Abstract: In this vehicle height adjustment system, a plurality of actuator assemblies are provided, one corresponding to each one of the vehicle wheels and resiliently suspending it from the vehicle body. These actuator assemblies have pressure chambers, and each is adapted to increase or decrease the vehicle height at a location corresponding to its corresponding wheel as respective results of supplying or discharging of working fluid to or from its pressure chamber. Working fluid supply/discharge means are provided corresponding to the actuator assemblies and supply and discharge working fluid to and from their pressure chambers. Wheel loading detection means are provided for sensing parameters representative of the loadings imposed by the vehicle body on the wheels, and vehicle height detection means are provided for sensing the heights of the vehicle above the wheels.

  • Patent number: 4809176
Abstract: In this system for vehicle roll control, a plurality of duty radio controlled actuator assemblies are provided, one corresponding to each one of the vehicle wheels, and resiliently suspended from the vehicle body. These actuator assemblies have pressure chambers, and each is adapted to increase or decrease the vehicle height at a location corresponding to its corresponding vehicle wheel as a result of the supplying or discharging of working fluid to or from its pressure chamber. Working fluid supplying and discharging means supply working fluid to and discharge working fluid from the pressure chambers of the actuator assemblies. The system further includes means for sensing the road speed of the vehicle, and means for sensing the steering angle of the vehicle. Vehicle height detection means are also provided for sensing the heights of the vehicle above the vehicle wheels.
