  • Patent number: 8254709
Abstract: A variable length encoding (VLE) device of an image compression system is suitable for encoding transformed and quantized block image signals. The VLE device includes a plurality of encoding modules, for performing VLE on the block image signals; and a selection module (VLE module start controller), for selecting a number of the encoding modules in turn to encode the block image signals. The encoding modules are configured for parallel processing, and an operating frequency of each of the encoding modules is a fractional frequency of a throughput rate of the image compression system. The VLE device is not affected by the time consumed by the VLE in the image compression process, and enables the entire image compression system to operate as desired and achieve the required throughput rate.

  • Publication number: 20070046557
Abstract: A wideband planar dipole antenna comprises a substrate and two antenna bodies. Metal conductor is printed on the single surface/double surfaces of the substrate to form the antenna bodies. With a dipole antenna architecture, the antenna bodies are manufactured as loop structures similar to concentric circles. The loop structures can be of rectangular or circular shapes. Loops of metal conductors with different lengths resonate to obtain similar but different frequencies. Each path of every antenna body can be finally connected with a metal conductor sheet capable of changing to any shape. Every path can interfere with adjacent paths to achieve the wideband effect. An asymmetric mechanism can be added in one of the antenna bodies. Besides letting the antenna have the resonance effect of the symmetric part, the loop path at the signal source can also be increased to enhance the receiving performance of the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20070046800
Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus of high dynamic-range CMOS image sensor and method thereof. The present invention utilize a pixel circuit outputting an output signal, wherein the pixel circuit has a photodiode and a plurality of transistors; and utilize a current source as a charge supplement unit to supply current into one end of the photodiode, and providing charges to the parasitic capacitor of the photodiode to delay saturation in the pixel circuit. In addition, a feedback circuit can be further designed connecting the pixel circuit. The feedback circuit receives the output signal from the pixel circuit and then outputs a control signal according to the output signal of the pixel circuit to control status of the charge supplement unit, and thereby increasing the dynamic range of the CMOS image sensor.

  • Publication number: 20060227968
Abstract: A time-dependent watermark system is provided for information integrity identification and tampering detection and damaged area reconstruction for digitally recorded speech that can be used as evidence in the court of law. The present invention utilizes the speech characteristics of frame, reconstruction information and time-dependent information to generate watermark for adding to the speech data at the secondary parameters where the impact on the speech quality is minimal. The present invention also provides a detection mechanism of tampering location and tamper way. The analysis scheme, according to the location and the type of the damaged watermark, determines the location and the way of tampering so that the reconstruction can be performed with the reconstruction information established in advance.

  • Publication number: 20060171685
Abstract: A method for reducing memory size and amount of data accessed of a buffered-frame storage device in a video codec is provided. It is applicable to a codec compliant with a video encoding and decoding standard. When a block is decompressed, the block is stored in the buffered-frame storage device using either compression data or reconstructed data based on its encoded mode and the positions of its reference frames, or based on a topological pattern and a pre-determined memory capacity constraint. With this method, not only the memory size of the buffered-frame storage device, but also the computational complexity requirement for decoding compression data of reference frames is reduced. The present invention compromises among the buffered-frame memory size, amount of data accessed, and computational complexity requirement.
