    Abstract: A method performed by a wireless device. The wireless device sends an indication to a network node including a value corresponding to a size of a buffer of detected or expected to be had during inactive state at a time of one or more transmissions. The sending is performed with the proviso that the size of the buffer is smaller than a threshold. The wireless device receives a grant from the network node based on the indication, and then sends data to the network node during inactive state, according to the grant received. The sending of the data is performed with the proviso that the size of the buffer is smaller than the threshold. The sending of the indication is performed prior to the sending of one or more data packets comprising at least a part of the first data.

A first network node is configured to prepopulate a UE context, and send, to a second network node, the UE context. The second network node is configured to receive, from the first network node, the UE context, and send, to a UE, a resume request message including a freshness parameter and the UE context. The UE is configured to receive, from the second network node, a resume request message including the freshness parameter and the UE context, generate an authentication token based on the freshness parameter and the UE context, and send, to the second network node, a resume response message including the authentication token. The communication system provides a freshness parameter and a prepopulated UE context to secure and facilitate resume procedure against replay attacks.

    Abstract: Methods, User Equipment (UE), and source network node for resuming a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection to a target cell in a wireless communications network. The UE generates a security token using a set of input parameters and sends a resuming request with the security token to a target network node serving the target cell. When receiving the resuming request, the source network node generates a security token using a set of input parameters in the same manner as the UE. If the received security token is successfully verified when compared with the generated security token, the source network node provides to the target network node a UE context of the UE, to enable the target network node to resume the RRC connection.

    Abstract: Systems and methods relating to resuming a suspended connection of a wireless device in a wireless system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device includes receiving, from a wireless network, a first message that indicates to suspend a connection between the wireless device and the wireless network. Responsive to receiving the first message, the wireless devices stores a wireless device context and enters a suspended mode of operation. Upon an occurrence of a triggering event, the wireless device transmits, to the wireless network, a second message that requests to resume the connection between the wireless device and the wireless network, wherein the second message includes a resume identifier having an identifier of a network node and an identifier of the wireless device. The wireless device receives, from the wireless network, a contention resolution identity Medium Access Control (MAC) control element that includes a portion of the second message.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed herein for reducing energy consumption in a wireless device. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment) can provide an indication to a network node (e.g., a base station) to indicate that the wireless device will prioritize energy consumption reduction over some network requirements (e.g., latency and/or scheduling flexibility requirements). Accordingly, the wireless device can perform certain power-saving actions to reduce energy consumption. The network node, upon receiving the indication from the wireless device, can perform certain network-related actions to assist the wireless device in reducing energy consumption. As a result, it is possible for the wireless device to reduce energy consumption and complexity, thus helping to prolong battery life in the wireless device.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to telecommunications. In one of its aspects, the disclosure concerns a method performed by a User Equipment for handling Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Service Data Units (SDUs) when performing a Dual Active Protocol Stack (DAPS) handover of at least one radio bearer from a source access node to a target access node in a wireless communications network. The method comprises obtaining a trigger to perform the handover and establishing a radio connection for the at least one radio bearer with the target access node. An uplink transmission of PDCP SDUs is switched from the source to the target access node over the established radio connection. A radio connection with the source access node is released and a PDCP status report is transmitted to the target access node for each configured radio bearer. The respective PDCP status report indicates PDCP Sequence Numbers (SNs) of missing PDCP SDUs.
