  • Publication number: 20240246408
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a computer system and a method for controlling pressure release in a liquid gas fuel volume of a vehicle, the vehicle including a liquid gas fuel volume, a valve controllable to ventilate a volume of fuel gas into ambient surroundings of the vehicle, a sensor assembly, a navigational system and a computer system including a processor device. The method includes, by the processor device identifying the vehicle approaching a confined space, measuring by the sensor assembly a status of the liquid gas fuel volume. Based on the measured status of the liquid gas fuel volume and on historical data, estimating an amount of fuel gas that would be released while the vehicle is located in the confined space, and controlling the valve to preemptively ventilate at least the estimated amount of fuel gas from the liquid gas fuel volume before reaching the confined space.

  • Publication number: 20240157919
Abstract: A heavy-duty vehicle has a first set of metallic brakes and a second set of non-metallic brakes having lower weight than the metallic brakes. A processor device is configured to acquire prediction data indicative of an upcoming brake event that is expected to occur along a road on which the vehicle is travelling; determine, based on the prediction data, an expected value of kinetic energy that will be absorbed during said upcoming brake event; select, based on said determined expected value of kinetic energy, which one of the first and second sets of brakes that is to be activated to absorb kinetic energy during said upcoming brake event; and control the selected set of brakes to be activated during said brake event, wherein the other set of brakes remains inactivated during said brake event.

  • Publication number: 20240149877
Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprises receiving, by a processor device of a computer system, from at least one data acquisition device of a prime vehicle, measurement data of each of at least two preceding vehicles preceding the prime vehicle; determining, by the processor device, a performance consistency of each of the at least two preceding vehicles based on the measurement data; selecting, by the processor device, a standard vehicle of the at least two preceding vehicles based on the performance consistency of each of the at least two preceding vehicles; and adapting, by the processor device, operation of the prime vehicle based on the standard vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20240152166
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for controlling pressure release in a liquid gas fuel volume in a vehicle, the liquid gas fuel volume being arranged with a control unit and a pressure release valve configured to automatically ventilate gas to an external environment when a pressure in the liquid gas fuel volume exceeds a predetermined ventilation set point. The method comprises obtaining by the control unit data, determining by the control unit a refueling pressure set point for the liquid gas fuel volume based on the obtained data, and at a subsequent refueling operation, communicating the refueling pressure set point as a maximum pressure threshold to be used when refueling the liquid gas fuel volume. A control unit to control pressure release according to the method, a computer program, a computer-readable medium, a liquid fuel gas volume arranged with the control unit, and a vehicle comprising the liquid fuel gas volume.

  • Publication number: 20240123833
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of controlling future braking capacity of a vehicle travelling along a road, the vehicle having onboard batteries that are configured to absorb energy from regenerative braking. The method comprises acquiring prediction data indicative of how much braking capacity will be needed for the vehicle in an upcoming downhill slope in which a regenerative braking event is anticipated; controlling, based on the acquired prediction data, the application of resistor brakes of the vehicle before said upcoming downhill slope, thereby increasing the propulsion power needed to propel the vehicle at maintained speed, and controlling a traction motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is propelled at maintained speed while the resistor brakes are applied, thereby reducing the state of charge (SOC) of the onboard batteries and enabling the onboard batteries to subsequently absorb energy from said anticipated regenerative braking event.

  • Patent number: 11788443
Abstract: A method for controlling oil pressure in a controllable oil pump of an internal combustion engine system. A vehicle is arranged in communication with a control unit, the method comprising: receiving an indication of an upcoming vehicle operating situation affecting an operation of the ICE system; determining an expected change in the operation of the ICE system for the upcoming vehicle operating situation; determining a current oil pressure of the oil pump; and on the basis of said determined expected change in the operation of the ICE system and the determined current oil pressure of the oil pump, determining a minimum oil pressure for the oil pump for the upcoming vehicle operating situation.
