  • Patent number: 4838975
Abstract: An arrangement for pressure adjustment in a veneer assembling machine has at least two conveying units which include alternatingly raisable and lowerable heating and conveying rails which are arranged parallel next to each other on transverse support members. Each rail has on the input side and the output side of the veneer assembling machine a cylinder each to which a pressure medium can be admitted. At least to the pressure cylinders at the input side arranged transversely of the travel direction of the veneer differently adjustable pressures can be admitted. The pressure cylinders are differently controllable through a valve control in dependence upon a workpiece edge scanning device.

  • Patent number: 4700758
Abstract: A device for trimming two opposite edges of veneer to provide parallel edges uses optical apparatus to scan the edges and determine the maximum width to which the veneer can be trimmed. The veneer is scanned at an inlet table upstream in the feed direction from a trimming apparatus in which previously checked veneer is cut to the determined width. The width to be cut is stored in a controlled device. When the trimming apparatus completes the cutting of the previously checked veneer, the control device sets the trimming apparatus for the width of the veneer to be cut and the veneer is moved from the inlet table to the trimming apparatus and is cut.

  • Patent number: 4681003
Abstract: A mechanism for depositing sheet material including a continuous belt extending between a pair of deflection rollers maintained in taut engagement thereabout, with one of the rollers being reciprocally movable relative to the other for expanding and contracting the length of the support surface in order to transport and deposit sheet material held on the support surface. A clamping mechanism operates to hold the belt stationary relative to the other of the deflection rollers when the one deflection roller is moved to contract the length of the support surface.

  • Patent number: 4414050
Abstract: A method and apparatus for joining veneer strips with an adhesive string between the abutting edges of the veneer strips, which string forms loops between the edges of one side of the veneer, the string being pressed and cemented against the other side of the veneer. The loop is being made by lifting the adhesive string through the plane of movement of the veneer strips using a supply eye in front of a holding hook. Thereafter, the string is being hung into the holding hook by a swinging movement and a following return movement of the supply eye.

  • Patent number: 4286540
Abstract: Plates made of porous material are strengthened by impregnation with a hardening fluid. The plates are stacked, subjected to vacuum in a chamber and immersed in the treating fluid, and pressure is then exerted on the fluid. The apparatus includes a chamber which contains a body of the fluid and which can be made airtight by applying a cover. The cover carries a support frame which carries a stack of plates, the cover having a hoisting device to lower the frame and stack into the fluid. A vacuum source and pressure source are connected to the container through a control valve.

  • Patent number: 4144836
Abstract: The apparatus includes a horizontal receiving substrate having a resilient gasket extending over the top surface in a closed figure and spaced from the edge of the substrate. A movable cover member including an inverted shallow chamber is provided with a matching resilient gasket on the underside. Vacuum means are connected to the cover. Means are provided for moving the transport cover and substrate into opposing positions so that a porous panel is clamped with between the cover and the substrate gaskets to seal off the major surface portions of the top and bottom faces of the panel while leaving a peripheral region, including the edge, exposed. A tank containing a fluid medium is arranged to move up and around the substrate so that the fluid medium in the tank contacts the surface of the peripheral region of the panel to achieve impregnation. A vacuum is drawn on the cover chamber so that the fluid medium is drawn into the peripheral regions of the panel.
