Patent number: 6705130Abstract: To improve the handling of a needle (1) having a selector element (16) that is seated to pivot on the needle body (2), a fastening element (32) is additionally provided. This element secures the selector element (16) to the needle body (2) in a form fit. One or more individual securing elements (34, 35, 36) acting in the transverse direction (33) serves or serve as the fastening element (32). The individual securing elements (34, 35, 36) can act in one direction or in both transverse directions. They are embodied to prevent the selector element (16) from falling out of the needle body (2) in both lateral directions. For this purpose, at least one individual securing element 34, 35, 36 that acts in the transverse directions 33a, 33b is provided. It is possible to combine all of the individual securing elements 34, 35, 36.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2002Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignee: Groz-Beckert KGInventors: Frank Weihing, Oskar Schaffer

Patent number: 6439001Abstract: A latch needle includes a needle shank; a hook formed at one end of the needle shank; a saw slot formed in the needle shank adjacent the hook; and a latch supported in the saw slot for pivotal motion about a pivot axis. The latch has first and second end positions and a position of rest situated between the end positions adjacent one of the end positions. Further, the latch has first and second engagement faces spaced from one another. A spring situated in the saw slot has a first pressing face which is in contact with the first engagement face when the latch is in the position of rest; and a second pressing face spaced from the first pressing face and being in contact with the second engagement face when the latch is in the end position adjacent the position of rest.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2001Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Groz-Beckert KGInventor: Oskar Schaffer

Patent number: 5956976Abstract: A latch needle for loop-forming textile machines includes a needle shank having an upper side, a back and a sawslot extending into the needle shank from the upper side and oriented parallel to the shank. A hook is provided at an end of the needle shank. A spring element is disposed in the sawslot and has at least one end supported by the needle shank. A needle latch is supported in the sawslot for pivotal motion about an axis between a closed position in which the needle latch engages, with a frontal end thereof, the hook and a rearward position. The needle latch has a latch shank which includes an upper side and a lower side. In the rearward position the needle latch lies, with the upper side of the latch shank, on the upper side of the needle shank or is situated in the vicinity of the upper side of the needle shank. The latch shank further has an end part formed as a cam engaged by the spring element.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1998Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Groz-Beckert AGInventors: Oskar Schaffer, Wolfgang Schmoll, Kurt Wiedenhofer, Bernhard Schuler
