  • Patent number: 4927539
Abstract: An anion-exchange chromatographic packing composition which comprises:a substrate which consists essentially of particles having cation-exchanging sites at least on their available surfaces, the particles being of a diameter of between about 1 to about 75 microns; anda liquid coating which consists essentially of a hydrophilic, water soluble, film forming resin having anion-exchanging sites which attract available cation-exchanging sites of the substrate, wherein the liquid coating is retained by electrostatic bonds on the available surfaces of the substrate particles. The invention further includes a chromatographic column and process using the described packing composition.

  • Patent number: 4654247
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a method for improving the tuft bind of yarn in textile coverings. The method comprises applying to the yarn, prior to applying an adhesive, a functional amount of an aqueous dispersion comprising a surfactant and/or polymeric component wherein the aqueous dispersion has a surface tension approximately equal to or less than the surface tension of the yarn. The present invention also is directed toward a textile covering having improved tuft bind prepared by the aforementioned method. The method is advantageously employed in the preparation of floor coverings to maintain the original appearance and resist the loss of pile or a condition known as pill and fuzzing.

  • Patent number: 4321331
Abstract: High density ion exchange resins are prepared from cross-linked, haloalkylated monovinylidene aromatic polymers which have been halogenated in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst. For example, a cross-linked chloromethylated polystyrene brominated in the presence of ferric chloride (FeCl.sub.3) may be subsequently aminated to form a high density anion exchange resin useful in thick process slurries such as those employed in uranium recovery.
