  • Publication number: 20130211304
Abstract: A universal wrist brace is arranged for both right and left handed use. The wrist brace has a main body panel defining symmetrical first and second sides. Each of the first and second sides has a wing located at a distal end flaring outwardly from longitudinal side portions of the main body panel in a transverse direction of the main body panel and parallel to an upper edge portion. The main body panel defines an opening located between the first and second sides, proximate and adjacent to the upper edge portion. A main securing device is anchored to the first side of the main body panel and detachably attaches to the second side of the main body panel.

  • Publication number: 20130190895
Abstract: A sleeve has interior and exterior surfaces, a proximal opening in a proximal area, and a distal area, and is adapted to be worn on a residual limb and at least partially over a definitive socket. The sleeve includes a fabric layer continuously forming the exterior surface of the sleeve. A polymeric layer is bonded to the fabric layer and forms the interior surface of the sleeve. A reinforcement layer is arranged in a localized area of the sleeve between the proximal and distal areas of the sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20130184625
Abstract: A spinal orthosis has an elongate spinal frame defining upper, middle and lower portions, and a lumbar assembly including a lumbar belt connected to the lower portion of the spinal frame. A middle bracket assembly is pivotally connected to the middle portion of the spinal frame, and a strap has a first end secured to the upper portion of the spinal frame. The strap extends from the upper portion of the frame to the middle bracket assembly with the strap redirecting from the middle bracket assembly and the second end of the strap securing to the lumbar belt.

  • Publication number: 20130173023
Abstract: A prosthetic foot can include a resilient heel member that can be removably coupled to the bottom of a plate-like foot member of the prosthetic foot. The heel member can be made of a resilient material, such as foam. The heel member can have a shape that corresponds to a foot cover and allows the prosthetic foot to fit within a foot cover. A lip may be provided to engage with a corresponding portion of the foot cover to secure the heel member within the foot cover. A rib can be located on the bottom of the heel member to create horizontal or vertical displacement of the foot at heel strike. A recess can be created in the heel member to removably receive an insert, which can alter the stiffness of the heel member.

  • Publication number: 20130165831
Abstract: A cervical collar including an anterior portion having a rigid or semi-rigid shell anterior main support piece. The anterior portion defines resilient or flexible edges formed along the periphery of the main support piece. The flexible edges form a three-dimensional anatomically configured proximal support portion defined along a proximal area of the anterior portion. The anterior main support piece defines a supporting spring portion centrally located along the proximal area of the anterior portion. The proximal support portion is formed around and encompasses the supporting spring portion.

  • Publication number: 20130150761
Abstract: A device and method for using the device arranged to maintain anatomical alignment between a joint by creating a dynamic load around the joint to restore and maintain the anatomical alignment. The orthotic device uses a hinge to create a directed force on a tibia by maintaining misalignment of an instant center of rotation (ICoR) of the hinge at a position relative to an anatomical knee joint.

  • Publication number: 20130144197
Abstract: An orthopedic device has upper and lower frames hingedly connected to each other by first and second primary hinges on opposed sides of the device and providing movement between flexion and extension. Each of the upper and lower frames includes opposed first and second medial-lateral portions connected by a central portion. A force strap is connected to the upper and lower frames and spiraling therebetween, and the force strap generally extends at a first location proximate to the first primary hinge and is generally urged in a first direction at the first location to the second primary hinge. The upper frame is rigid or semi-rigid, and includes means for permitting movement in proximal-distal directions and means for permitting movement in lateral-medial directions.

  • Publication number: 20130085581
Abstract: A vertical suspension system for a prosthetic foot includes a first member operatively coupleable to an amputee's residual leg. The suspension system can also include a second member coupleable to a prosthetic foot. One or more upper leaf springs and one or more lower leaf springs extend between and are attached to the first and second members such that at least one of the ends of each leaf spring is rotationally fixed to the first or second members, where the upper an lower leaf springs are spaced apart from each other.

  • Publication number: 20130073056
Abstract: An ankle module for a prosthetic foot can have an adapter portion pivotally coupled to a base portion. The base portion can be coupled to the prosthetic foot. The adapter portion can have a coupling member that removably couples the prosthetic foot to a prosthetic pylon or socket. The adapter portion can also have cylinders housing pistons slidably displaceable within the cylinders. An actuator is selectively actuatable to place the cylinders in fluid communication, allowing a fluid to flow between the cylinders as an angular position of the adapter portion is adjusted relative to the base portion, thereby adjusting the dorsi-plantar position between the adapter portion and the base portion of the ankle module. The actuator can be selectively actuatable to fluidly isolate the cylinders from each other so that the angular position of the adapter portion relative to the base portion remains substantially fixed.
