    Abstract: A novel recombinant DNA is characterized in that DNA containing a gene encoding phosphotransacetylase has been inserted into vector DNA. The recombinant DNA can be obtained by culturing in medium E. coli 1100 (pPT200) (FERM BP-2195) belonging to the genus Escherichia which contains a recombinant DNA obtained by inserting DNA containing a gene coding for phosphotransacetylase into vector DNA and is capable of producing phosphotransacetylase, and collecting phosphotransacetylase from the culture.
