  • Patent number: 5319957
Abstract: The apparatus for checking the volume of bottles (1) comprises a head (2) adapted to be moved sealingly onto the bottle mouth (21), with a metering piston (7) which is displaceable in relation to the head (2) to be inserted into the bottle (1) and compress the air contained therein, and a pressure sensor (9) for measuring the excess pressure produced in the bottle. The measured volume (11) in the bottle is linked to a compensating volume (12) through a duct (10). The compensating volume is determined on the one hand by the constant starting height of the metering piston (7) and on the other hand by the variable displacement path length of the head (2).

  • Patent number: 5209625
Abstract: A sheet-metal blank (10) can be moved through between first and second bending rolls (24, 25). Disposed behind the bending rolls (24, 25) in its direction of movement (12) is a deflecting member (28) by which the sheet-metal blank (10) can be deflected away from the first bending roll (24) and round the second bending roll (25) out of its original direction of movement (12). In order to catch the edge of the sheet-metal blank (10) which was leading in the original direction of movement (12), a catch ledge (29) is disposed at the side of the second bending roll (25) remote from the first bending roll (24) and at least substantially in the common plane of the axes of the two bending rolls (24, 25). The catch ledge (29) is a component of a guide rail (30) on which the rounded sheet-metal blank (10) is guided with its longitudinal edges lying close beside one another during a further axial movement.

  • Patent number: 5122629
Abstract: A compact resistance seam welding machine wherein the upper electrode roller (14) is provided on a pivotally mounted arm (12) instead of on a pendulum roller head. The lower electrode roller (16), which is disposed below the upper electrode roller (14), is provided on a rigid lower arm (8) as usual. The pivotal mounting (10) of the arm (12) includes a stack of copper foils (102) on the side adjacent to the lower arm (8) and of a steel strip (101) on the side remote from the lower arm (8). The steel strip (101) and the copper foils (102) are each clamped, on the one side to the machine frame (4) and on the other side to the opposite end of the arm (12). The arm (12) is therefore pivotally mounted on the principle of a parallelogram linkage, while the pivotal mounting (10) serves for the transmission of welding current to the upper electrode roller (14) at the same time. The pivotal mounting ( 10) only permits the upper electrode roller (14) a vertical movement up and down.

  • Patent number: 5031892
Abstract: A stack of blanks is guided between pile guides. Disposed on a support are holding members which can be laid against an exposed blank in the stack in order to grasp it and to be moved, with it, away from the stack. In the course of this, the support is movable over a path which, starting from the stack, extends transversely to the plane of the blanks, then changes over into a direction at least substantially parallel to the plane of the blanks and leading to a pair of conveying members and finally again extends transversely to the plane of the blanks. The conveying members grip the blanks delivered to them by the support, at both sides and convey it onwards.

  • Patent number: 4856632
Abstract: Locking arrangements (40,44) are respectively connected, for joint rotation, to a driving and a driven hub (10,16) which are mounted for rotation in relation to one another. The two locking arrangements (40,44) can be coupled to one another by at least one detent member (42) which, in an engaged position, produces an axial disengaging force (B) depending on the transmitted torque. A loading device is provided to produce an engaging force (C) which can be overcome by the disengaging force (B) if a certain torque is exceeded. This stressing device comprises a cylinder compartment (36) to which a fluid under pressure can be supplied from an inlet (56) so long as the detent member (42) is engaged. The detent member (42) is connected to a distributing slide valve (32) for joint axial displacement, which distributing slide valve separates the cylinder compartment (36) from the inlet (56) and connects it to a relief passage (76) if the detent member (42) is at least partially disengaged.

  • Patent number: 4728766
Abstract: For welding tongues (12) onto sheet-metal parts (10), particularly tear-open can parts, a welding machine having at least one pair of welding electrodes (62, 63) is provided. The sheet-metal parts (10) can be moved through the machine steps between the welding electrodes (62, 63), one behind the other, by a sheet-metal conveyor (15) and be located in a defined position by a positioning device (17). The tongues (12) can each be placed against a sheet-metal part (10) between the welding electrodes (62, 63) in synchronism with the working cycle of the sheet-metal conveyor (15) by a tongue conveyor (18).

  • Patent number: 4675489
Abstract: On a machine for welding together the longitudinal edges (12, 14) of rounded sheet-metal container body blanks there are disposed a plurality of rings (24) of rollers round a common longitudinal axis (22), one behind the other in the direction of passage through (A) of the blanks (10). At least some (28) of the rollers (26, 28) of the rings (24) of rollers are each mounted on a roller carrier (40) which is adjustable in the direction away from the longitudinal axis (22) against resilient resistance. The roller carriers (40) are guided in a manner which enables the associated rollers (28) to execute yielding movements at an angle of distinctly less than 90.degree. to the direction of passage through (A) of the blanks (10). For this purpose, the roller carriers (40) are each pivotable about a transverse pin (42) which is disposed at least substantially parallel to the associated roller spindle (38), upstream of this with respect to the direction of passage through (A) of the blanks (10).

  • Patent number: 4350862
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting successive pieces to be separated from one another at respective predetermined spacings at a predetermined velocity, includes a rotary-to-linear movement conversion device, including a crank normally arranged to be driven at a prearranged angular velocity by a drive mechanism, and a clutch normally connected to, but disconnectable from the crank, and adapted to be connected to a drive device for periodically reducing the angular velocity to zero, so that the spacing of successive pieces may be accurately adjusted.
