  • Patent number: 5066544
Abstract: An improved dispersion strengthened lead-tin alloy solder is provided in which there is dispersed in the solder up to about 5 vol. percent of small particles, of a metal sulfide or a nickel-tin intermetallic.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 1990
Date of Patent: November 19, 1991
    Assignee: U.S. Philips Corporation
Inventors: Hemant S. Betrabet, Otmar H. Boser, Robert H. Kane, Susan McGee, Thomas Caulfield
  • Patent number: 4644259
Abstract: A method for nondestructive testing of multilayer ceramic capacitors exhibiting piezoelectric effects only during poling by a bias voltage to determine the presence or absence of delaminations. The capacitor is inserted in an impedance bridge, a bias voltage of 1 to 2.5 times the rated voltage is applied and the impedance is measured as a function of frequency. A lower than expected impedance indicates a defective capacitor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1984
Date of Patent: February 17, 1987
    Assignee: North American Philips Corporation
    Inventor: Otmar H. Boser
  • Patent number: 4446502
Abstract: An improved hermetically sealed glass encapsulated monolithic ceramic capacitor in which a metallurgical bond between the capacitor termination and the end cap of its lead is effected by means of brazing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 14, 1982
Date of Patent: May 1, 1984
    Assignee: U.S. Philips Corporation
Inventors: Otmar H. Boser, Richard C. Sweet
