    Abstract: A tray member for a fluid contact apparatus has elongated slots. An elongated cap covers either a single slot or two or more aligned slots. Each cap has opposite lengthwise extending side portions above the upper surface of the tray member and is provided with spacedly arranged recesses along the lengthwise extending edges of said side portions. The recesses along one of the two edges are staggered with respect to the recesses along the other edge. Each recess is formed by a downwardly bent part of the respective side portion.
