  • Publication number: 20080277304
Abstract: The invention is a container for storing and serving food, especially practical for cheese, and other items that would benefit from being stored in a temperature and environment similar to those recommended for wine. The invention addresses food storage requirements including moderated refrigeration and enhanced humidity control while addressing odor migration thus maintaining the flavor and other characteristics of cheese and other temperature sensitive items. The invention does so by taking a novel approach in that it repurposes one or more of the wine bottle storage bays found in commercially available refrigerated wine storage units and the bottle bays of wine storage racks found in wine cellars and wine storage rooms. By virtue of the container's size and contour the container will fit stably into the bottle bays in the vast majority of commercially available refrigerated wine storage units and in those bottle bays of wine storage racks found in wine cellars and wine storage rooms.

  • Patent number: 5768836
Abstract: To improve thermal and acoustic insulation between the outside (O) and the inside (I) of a structure having windows or doors therethrough, stationary frames (10, 12; 52, 54) are secured to the building, retaining movable window or door frames (2). The stationary frames include two metal rails (10, 12; 52, 54), one (10, 52) of the frames being located at the outside (O) of the building and the other (12, 54) at the inside (I) of the building. The inner and outer rails are separated from each other by a double-walled chambered strip (14) having first and second elongated strip portions connected by cross ribs (21, 22, 23) which, therebetween, define chambers (17-20). The chambers are serially located in a direction of thermal gradient between the outside and the inside of the building and arranged in stepped or Z-shaped configuration.

  • Patent number: 4432179
Abstract: To reduce heat transmission between an inside area (J) and an outside area (A) in an aluminum casement window or door frame construction, the frame is formed of three seperate rail elements (6, 7, 8) which are structurally interconnected by glass fiber reinforced polyester strips (9, 10) which are positioned to cooperate with steps (20a, 20b, 20c) formed on a wood window or door frame so that, upon closing the window or door, two air chambers (12, 14) will be formed, separated by an intermediate projecting strip (37) projecting from the intermediate rail (7); additional sealing strips (16) can be provided, the strips being retained between legs (22, 26) formed on the rails and defining grooves therebetween.
