  • Patent number: 6085634
Abstract: This power steering cylinder assembly consists of a hydraulic cylinder which is closed at each end. A piston rod travels through the center of each end has a piston assembly fastened on it. The cylinder has holes in each end for fluid to enter and move the piston or be discharged from the cylinder. The piston has holes completely through it and a flat ring valve is supported on each side and slides in the piston. These valves are urged away from the piston by spring pressure. When power steering is used these valves close by the fluid pressure to seal the piston. When the fluid pressure drops low enough so manual steering must be used the valves open and the fluid travels through the piston as it is pushed back and forth.

  • Patent number: 6058826
Abstract: A power steering cylinder assembly including a cylinder divided by a piston into opposite chambers and a valve controlling flow between a pump, a tank and the chambers. Bypass passages selectively connects the opposite chambers when there is no flow from the pump. The bypass passages includes first and second sets of axial passageways in the wall of the cylinder. Each passageway of the first set of axial passageways having an inlet in the first operating chamber and a first outlet in the exterior of the cylinder. Each passageway of the second set of axial passageways having an inlet in the second operating chamber and a second outlet in the exterior surface of the cylinder. The first and second outlets being in two respective circumferential lines on the exterior surface of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5727444
Abstract: This power steering cylinder assembly, may replace the cylinder assembly in some present power steering systems, or may be used in a new system. When the oil pressure drops or disappears, in some of the power steering systems in use today, manual steering must be used. The piston is then pushed back and forth in a fluid filled cylinder. The oil in the chamber in front of the piston, must then be pushed through a small opening back to reservoir, and the oil in the chamber in back of the piston must be drawn from the pump. This results in an additional resistance load on the piston. By using the new cylinder assembly when the pressure drops or disappears, the oil will readily circulate from the chamber in front of the piston to the chamber in back of the piston, thereby relieving much of the resistance of the piston as it is being pushed back and forth by manual steering.

  • Patent number: 4884821
Abstract: A collet chuck having a tubular housing with the inside diameter tapering outwardly at one end to match the taper of an inserted collet, threads on the reduced outside diameter of the housing at this same end for a collet closer or disc tightener to screw on. This collect closer is in the shape of a disc with knurled outer surface, and radial holes spaced in this outer surface so a lever can be inserted in any of these holes to assist in screwing the disc on the housing. A section of the inside diameter of the disc is threaded, the remaining part is an enlarged recess. When the disc is screwed on the housing, a needle thrust bearing and the flat ring of a rod assembly is loosely positioned in the recess of the disc tightener. A lock ring that slides on the larger diameter of the housing is fastened to the disc tightener to form a closed pocket with the ring and bearing inside.

  • Patent number: 4489928
Abstract: A vise has an adjustable feature including a pair of adjustable members extending from a movable jaw toward another jaw. The adjustable members are movable independently of each other and independently of the movable jaw and permit clamping of uneven pieces or clamping of a piece off center between the jaws. Another adjustable feature permits the movable jaw to be held down during clamping operations.

  • Patent number: 4167362
Abstract: A tool driving attachment is provided for use with a tool driving machine having a rotatable powered driving member. The attachment includes a first tool driving member which is connectable with the powered member for rotation therewith. A second tool driving member may be guided and resiliently locked into and out of rotating engagement with the first tool driving member when the first member is rotating.
