  • Patent number: 5056470
Abstract: For the mounting and servicing of a piston-operated internal-combustion engine, devices for the highly loadable fastening of an auxiliary mounting tool are developed at the cylinder lining 11 and the piston 23. This facilitates the mounting and dismounting of the cylinder liner 11 and the pertaining piston/connecting rod assembly as a unit.

  • Patent number: 5056310
Abstract: An interior pipe carrying exhaust gases is arranged in a cooled housing 13. The interior pipe fastened to the housing 13 comprises individual sections 18 arranged in series while leaving expansion joints. The length of one section 18 corresponds approximately to the cylinder spacing of the piston internal-combustion engine. At the circumference, at the halfway point of its length, each section 18 has a plug-type connection 20 interacting with the housing. This plug-type connection 20 is arranged approximately opposite the lead-in point of an exhaust stub 15 of a cylinder interacting with the section 18. The plug-type connection 20 comprises a receiving device which, in a cooled manner, is arranged in the housing and a corresponding plug 23 connected with the section 18 of the interior pipe.

  • Patent number: 4961479
Abstract: For the distribution of lubricating oil, a duct is arranged in the crankcase 13 of a piston-operated internal-combustion engine and extends through several transverse walls 11, 12. The sections of the duct between two transverse walls 11, 12 are composed of an insert pipe 23 and of a socket pipe 24 which are constructed to be axially slidable and clampable with respect to one another. The free ends of the insert pipe 23 and of the socket pipe 24, in a sealed manner, extend in the bored transverse-wall passages 14, 15 of the duct. The arrangement results in a simplified tooling of the crankcase 13 in the area of the duct.

  • Patent number: 4936417
Abstract: A lubricating system is disclosed which includes a splash cooling of the pistons of an internal-combustion engine by spraying nozzles, the cooling jets of which are aimed at the interior surfaces of the pistons. In order to achieve, after the start of an internal-combustion engine, a rapid buildup of the lubricant pressure, the lubricant supply to the spraying nozzles is interrupted in this initial operating phase. Since, in the starting phase, the lubricating oil supply to the camshafts can be reduced considerably or can even be switched off completely without damaging the bearings, the spraying nozzles and the camshafts receive a common lubricating oil supply which can be controlled centrally by means of control valves. It is advantageous that already existing lubricant ducts may be used, and the spraying nozzles can be constructed in a simple manner without any integrated control valves.

  • Patent number: 4807436
Abstract: The invention relates an arrangement for the mounting of exhaust gas lines which are arranged in an exhaust gas-tight space, and serve for the transfer of the combustion gases from the exhaust openings of the cylinder heads to the exhaust gas manifold. By reason of the high temperature load of the exhaust gas lines which are not cooled in the exhaust gas-tight space, the mounting is so constructed that no compulsory forces can occur which stem from the temperature strain. This is achieved by a point-shaped mounting of flanges connected with the exhaust gas lines at only one circumferential place each. The single point fastening assures a radial and axial expansion possibility of the exhaust gas lines under thermal load free of compulsory forces. The exhaust gas lines are threadably secured each by means of fastening bolts within the area of the ends of the cylinder head side preferably at the cylinder head or at wall parts of the components forming the exhaust gas-tight space.
