  • Patent number: 5660783
Abstract: In order to operate the closing means of a double plate injection moulding machine including a fixed and a movable mould plate, the closing means comprising at least one pump (22), at least one high speed cylinder for a high speed stroke and at least one closing cylinder (10) for a closing stroke with a nominal closing force, whereby the closing cylinder (10) includes a double action piston (7) in which both piston faces (13, 14) are the same size and which divides the interior of the closing cylinder (6) into two cylinder sections (8, 9) which are hydraulically connectable via hydraulic lines (21, 22) and a valve (26), the following method is carried out: during the high speed closing operation using the high speed cylinder (3), both sides of the piston (7) of the closing cylinder (10) are pressurized with an equal, high pressure which is as high as or higher than that required to obtain the required nominal closing force, whereby on moving the piston (7) of the closing cylinder (10) in the closing direction

  • Patent number: 5556656
Abstract: An injection moulding machine has a framework (1), a fixed and a movable die platen (2, 8) and at least a piston-cylinder unit of a cylinder platen (3) that bears a hydraulic or electromechanical closure mechanism. The cylinder platen (3) and the fixed die platen (2) are interconnected only by the framework (1). The closure force exerted during injection moulding and the vertical thrust between the cylinder platen (3) and the die platen (2) are transmitted only through the framework (1). The intersection between the longitudinal center axis (LSK) of the closing die (5) and the longitudinal center axis (LBF) of the die platen (8) lies at the back of the movable die platen (8) and the point at which the force of the closing die (5) is transmitted to the movable die platen (8) is vertically displaceable in relation to the die platen (8).

  • Patent number: 5334009
Abstract: A handling device for an injection molding machine of plastic parts, removes the molded plastic parts from between a pair of platens. The handling device includes a rigid gripper arm which is pivotable about an axis extending parallel to a longitudinal direction of the machine. The handling device is supported directly on a machine frame which also carries the die platens. A space between the platens is left free of conventional longitudinal bars so that the rigid gripper arm can freely pivot into and out of the space between the die platens. Advantageously, the gripper arm is straight in a preferred embodiment of the invention and the simple pivotable movement of the arm is capable of moving the arm into a broad work area between platens for removing plastic parts from the platens.

  • Patent number: 5249951
Abstract: In an injection molding machine having a machine frame, a stationary mold mounting plate, a movable mold mounting plate and a support portion on the machine frame, which carries a mold closing mechanism, the support portion and the stationary mold mounting plate are connected exclusively by way of the machine frame. The closing force which occurs during the closing phase and the expansion force which occurs during injection, as between the support portion and the stationary mold mounting plate, are carried only by way of the machine frame. The mold mounting plates are mounted tiltably about a respective horizontal axis while a guide means is provided between the two mold mounting plates or the movable mold mounting plate and the machine frame.
