  • Patent number: 4530212
Abstract: A turbine condenser includes a steam dome of the condenser having a wall. At least one bypass steam inlet discharges into the steam dome. The bypass steam inlet includes a bypass valve for controlling the amount of bypass steam in the bypass steam inlet and at least two series-connected throttling devices disposed downstream of the bypass valve for decompressing the bypass steam. Each respective throttling device disposed relatively further downstream has a larger cross section than each throttling device disposed relatively further upstream. The throttling device disposed farthest downstream is in the form of an insert disposed in the steam dome conforming to the curvature of the steam dome wall. A device is provided for injecting water into the bypass steam inlet cooling the bypass steam.

  • Patent number: 4506860
Abstract: A flow control valve, especially for use in controlling the operation of a steam turbine, includes a valve seat arranged in the interior of a valve housing, and a diffusor arranged downstream of the valve seat, as well as a valve member which is mounted in a valve member guide toward and away from the valve seat to accordingly throttle the flow of steam or a similar medium through the interior of the valve housing and into the diffusing channel of the diffusor. Minimization of alternating forces tending to excite the valve member into oscillating and stabilization of the flow of the medium in the channel disposed downstream of the valve seat are achieved by the provision of internal ribs within such a channel. At least three such ribs are provided, projecting at least substantially in the respective radial directions or parallel thereto from the surface bounding such channel.

  • Patent number: 3964884
Abstract: Means for separation of water in the connecting duct of a saturated steam turbine. A spin generator with guide blades is built directly into the duct. Downstream behind the spin generator, there are provided annular openings in the connecting duct for removal of the water to surrounding water receiving chambers. The water receiving chambers are connected by a steam suction pipe to a zone of lower pressure in the central flow portion of the spin generator. A water vapor agglomerator is located in a bent section of the duct before the spin generator and consists of directional baffles. The water is first agglomerated and then spun out.
