Abstract: A newly identified problem with conventional treatments of overactive bladder and nocturia is that these diseases are not simply due to dysfunctional bladder detrusor smooth muscle, but rather is a complex disorder involving interplay between sensory and motor nerves. Thus, although the use of anti-muscarinic agents alone can be useful in some women, we discovered that treatment therapy using agents that have mixed-activity anti-cholinergic activity can be especially useful.
