  • Publication number: 20080298893
Abstract: A vibration plate with a top mass and a bottom mass has, in addition to a spring device, a stabilizing device with which the bottom mass can be guided during its movement relative to the top mass. The stabilizing device has a transverse stabilizer which prevents tilting between the top mass and the bottom mass. The stabilizing device may likewise be formed by one or more Panhard rods, which prevent a transverse displacement between the top mass and the bottom mass.

  • Patent number: 6849342
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of fabrication and a product, which forms a composite body made of metal and a porous ceramic blank, which adjoins the metallic portion and is infiltrated by the metal, wherein a gradient in properties across the composite portion of the composite body is formed by a heat treatment that reduces some of the oxides across the thickness of the porous ceramic blank. In one embodiment, a gradient from substantial chemical reaction to incomplete chemical reaction of the reducible oxides of the blank with the infiltrated metal is formed inside the composite portion.

  • Patent number: 5648620
Abstract: A cast sliding surface bearing for guiding and supporting moving machine members consists of a light alloy matrix (4), which contains a cast-in shaped body (2), which constitutes portions of the sliding surface (6) and is made of a hard material and has open cavities, which contain infiltrated matrix material. In order to achieve improved tibological properties the open cavities of the shaped body are filled with matrix material, each of the hard portions of the shaped body which lie in the sliding surface has a size, measured in an axis, of .ltoreq.0.1 mm, and the distance between the hard portions of the shaped body, measured in an axis, is .ltoreq.2 mm.

  • Patent number: 5272718
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a stream of molten material. The apparatus includes a melt container having a bottom wall in which is formed an aperture. A funnel is adapted and constructed to receive molten material from the aperture in the container, and includes a plurality of fluid-cooled metallic segments. The funnel segments define an inner funnel contour that decreases in cross-sectional area from the inlet end to the outlet end of the funnel. An electrically conductive coil surrounds the funnel, and has a shape corresponding to the outer shape of said funnel. A source of medium-frequency current in selective electrical connection with the coil. The method begins with the step of providing a predetermined quantity of molten material in a melt container. A metallic funnel is provided in fluid communication with the melt container, and includes a plurality of fluid-cooled funnel segments. The method also includes the step of providing an electrically conductive coil surrounding the funnel.

  • Patent number: 5247538
Abstract: Apparatus for melting preferably highly reactive metals, such as titanium for example, in a vacuum melting furnace, for example a vacuum arc furnace for the remelting of metals, with one or more melting positions, a melting crucible (5, 28) being provided at each melting position, these crucibles being closed vacuum-tight after the end of the melting operation and then separated from the melting furnace, the furnace being provided with a single manipulator and by this manipulator each single crucible (5, 28) can be closed vacuum-tight by means of a separate crucible closure plate (13, 37).

  • Patent number: 5156202
Abstract: A permanent mold for mold-casting reactive metals and metal alloys (FIG. 1) includes a multiple of radially disposed, plate-like segments 3, 3', 3", . . . which enclose the workpiece 12 and are preferably made of cooled metallic material and which form together the permanent mold including a top inlet opening 14 and a bottom opening 15 for withdrawing the working piece; in order to close the withdrawal opening 15, a closing plate 9 is provided which is composed of a multiple of ring segments 13, 13', 13", . . . and the permanent mold 5 is enclosed by a magnetic coil 6 so as to generate an electromagnetic field.

  • Patent number: 5012488
Abstract: The invention relates to a crucible for the inductive heating of materials. This crucible is subdivided into individual vertical segments wherein one segment (40) comprises at least two parts (43, 44) with different electrical conductivities and is layed out according to the condition.kappa.<2/(.pi.f .mu..sub.o b.sup.2)where.kappa. specific electrical conductivity of the part (43) with the poor conductivityf=frequency of the a.c current flowing through the induction coil (19).mu..sub.o =magnetic permeability in vacuob=thickness of a segment.

  • Patent number: 4775981
Abstract: In a melting furnace with weight-related control of the consumable electrode, the electrode mounting is disposed in a separate pressure chamber which has an inverted bottle-shaped configuration. The downwardly extending neck-like portion is passed sealingly through an opening in the cover plate of the melting chamber. The pressure chamber is suspended from a crossbeam which can be driven vertically by means of spindles. On the upper end of the pressure chamber there is provided a bellows whose upper edge is joined to the upper, tubular portion of the electrode holding rod, while a solid rod holding a current-carrying tube extends coaxially through the tubular portion and is hung from a frame which suspends the electrode holding rod and which is supported on the crossbeam by a sensor.
