  • Patent number: 5112108
Abstract: A seating furniture includes a frame having a backrest mounting portion; a seat disposed on the frame; and a backrest disposed adjacent the backrest mounting portion. The backrest includes upper and lower backrest parts extending respectively above and below the backrest mounting portion. The furniture further has a connecting member which attaches the backrest to the backrest mounting portion and which includes a leaf spring secured to the backrest mounting portion and the backrest. • Patent number: 4452486
Abstract: The invention relates to a chair type furniture characterized by a frame on which a seat area may be guided forward and backward in about horizontal direction, furtheron by a tiltable back rest the lower end of which is articulated to the seat area the middle range of which seat area is articulated to the frame, which back rest is guidedly displaceable together with the seat area and at the same time is tilted around the joint on the frame thus causing a spring element to pull the seat area and the back rest into a neutral position, in which the seat area is in its rear position and the back rest is in its most upright position, wherein in order to provide the swivel connection between the seat area and the lower end of the back rest a first bar is tiltably articulated with its lower end to the frame and with the upper end is also tiltably articulated to the back rest, and wherein a second bar is articulated with one end to the first bar and with the other to the seat area.

  • Patent number: 3951453
Abstract: A seating device includes a base portion and at least one top cushion movably positioned on the base portion. An insert of relatively heavier material than that of the cushion is placed in the lower portion of the cushion to maintain the latter in a selected position on the base while the seating device is in use. The top cushion may be an arm cushion, a back cushion or a head cushion, and is made from foam, cotton-wool or the like. The insert in the lower portion of the top cushion may be of a loose, pourable granulate material such as sand, and this material may be contained in a partitioned cover to maintain the material in a desired distribution. Additional holding power for maintaining the top cushion in a selected position can be obtained by affixing a VELCRO fastener to the underside of the top cushion.
