  • Patent number: 6802201
Abstract: A method and a device for monitoring a sensor, e.g., a sensor for measuring a pressure variable which characterizes the pressure of the air supplied to the internal combustion engine. A fault is detected if a change in an operating variable that characterizes the quantity of fuel to be injected results in no corresponding change in the output variable of the sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 9, 2002
Date of Patent: October 12, 2004
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
    Inventor: Otwin Landschoff
  • Patent number: 6688164
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling an internal combustion engine, including a sensor for detecting a pressure variable characterizing the pressure of the air supplied to the internal combustion engine. The performance reliability of the sensor is monitored and a substitute signal is used in case of a fault. To determine the substitute signal, a static substitute value is defined on the basis of variables that characterize the operating state of the internal combustion engine. The static substitute value is filtered by a filter having a delay component, in order to generate the substitute signal.

  • Publication number: 20030029222
Abstract: A method and a device are described for monitoring a sensor, in particular a sensor for measuring a pressure variable which characterizes the pressure of the air supplied to the internal combustion engine. A fault is detected if a change in an operating variable that characterizes the quantity of fuel to be injected results in no corresponding change in the output variable of the sensor.
