  • Patent number: 8527410
Abstract: The invention relates to the control of billing in a communications network. The objective is to accomplish a mechanism for minimizing credit losses caused by subscribers, while at the same time maintaining good performance of the system. A gateway receives service requests and filters out the requests for which the analysis performed indicates that a credit loss risk is involved. For these service requests an in-advance credit check is initiated. If the credit check indicates that the delivery is permissible, a reservation is made for the amount of money corresponding to the service price, i.e. the said sum is reserved in the subscriber account so that said sum cannot be used by another service request in the meantime. When the service has been delivered successfully, the reservation is confirmed and the said sum is debited from the balance of the subscriber account. Otherwise, the reservation is cancelled.

  • Patent number: 7660864
Abstract: Systems and methods applicable, for example, in having a node inform its user of one or more events while the user interface of the node is in an idle state. The user might, for instance, be able to select one or more of the events of which she is informed for corresponding operations. The events of which the user is informed might include, for example, events corresponding to software operations and/or events corresponding to a network environment (e.g., a peer-to-peer environment).

  • Publication number: 20080089257
Abstract: A method and system for supporting mobile routers in Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is provided. A mobile router obtains a care-of-address associated with an address configuration. The mobile router registers the care-of-address with a home agent. A bi-directional tunnel is established between the mobile router and the home agent. Packets are then forwarded via the bi-directional tunnel.

  • Patent number: 7359674
Abstract: A system for propagating information among wireless communication devices in an efficient manner. More specifically, the invention involves regulating the behavior of a wireless communication device (WCD) between a primarily passive mode where client or slave availability is maximized and a primarily active mode where information propagation or master behavior is maximized. The regulation of the WCD is controlled based on the environment surrounding the WCD, including the devices in effective transmission range of the device, and the current condition of the WCD.

  • Patent number: 6084855
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for providing fair traffic scheduling of L2 connections based on the number of IP flows and a priority coefficient for flow groups in the L2 connection. IP flows are scheduled according to a priority coefficient. The system identifies a number of IP flows for a plurality of connections, assigns a priority coefficient for each of the IP flows and schedules the IP flows according to the priority coefficient. The assignment of a priority coefficient results in a probability P.sub.i that a data unit belonging to a flow carried over connection A.sub.i will be selected for forwarding as defined by .sigma..sub.i *x.sub.i /.SIGMA.(x.sub.1 . . . x.sub.n), i={1,2, . . . n}, where x.sub.i is the number of flows carried over connection A.sub.i, .sigma..sub.i is the priority and n is the number of connections. The relationship between the number of flows x.sub.i and the priority .sigma..sub.i is defined by .SIGMA..sub.(e=1-n) (.sigma..sub.i *x.sub.i)/.SIGMA..sub.(i=1-n) x.sub.i =1.
