  • Patent number: 11643232
Abstract: A binding machine including a feeding and tensioning device for feeding a binding element in the form of a wire or strap around a space, and a joining device for forming a joint between a first binding element section at the leading end of the binding element and a second binding element section at the trailing end of a piece of the binding element arranged in a loop in or around the space to thereby form a closed loop of this piece of the binding element. The feeding and tensioning device is configured to exert a tensile force on the binding element in order to subject the joint to a tensile test. During this test, a gripping arrangement is configured to keep the first binding element section secured in fixed position by engagement with a part of the first binding element section located between the joint and the leading end of the binding element.

  • Patent number: 11332270
Abstract: A binding machine comprising: —a feeding device for feeding a binding element (3) in the form of a wire or strap in a loop around one or more objects to be bound and subsequently retracting the binding element to draw it tightly around said objects; and—a laser welding device for forming a welded joint between a section at the leading end of the binding element and an adjoining section at the trailing end of the part (3a) of the binding element fed in a loop around said objects to thereby secure this part of the binding element in a loop around the objects. The laser welding device is configured to cut off the binding element at said trailing end to thereby release said part (3a) of the binding element from the remaining part (3b) of the binding element.

  • Publication number: 20220024622
Abstract: A binding machine comprising a feeding and tensioning device (5) for feeding a binding element (3) in the form of a wire or strap around a space (4), and a joining device for forming a joint (8) between a first binding element section at the leading end of the binding element and a second binding element section at the trailing end of a piece of the binding element arranged in a loop in or around said space to thereby form a closed loop (11) of this piece of the binding element. The feeding and tensioning device is configured to exert a tensile force on the binding element in order to subject the joint to a tensile test. During this test, a gripping arrangement (30) is configured to keep the first binding element section secured in fixed position by engagement with a part (13) of the first binding element section located between the joint (8) and the leading end of the binding element.

  • Patent number: 11065822
Abstract: A binding machine comprising: —a feeding device for feeding a binding element (3) in the form of a wire or strap around one or more objects and subsequently retracting the binding element to draw it tightly around said objects; and —a laser welding device (12) for forming a welded joint between a first section at the leading end of the binding element and an adjoining second section at the trailing end of the part (3a) of the binding element fed around said objects to thereby secure this part of the binding element in a loop around the objects. The laser welding device directs a laser beam onto an area (30) at the trailing end of said second section in order to reduce the tensile strength of the binding element, wherein the feeding device retracts the binding element in order to subject this area to tensile stress and thereby cause the binding element to be broken off.

  • Publication number: 20190300220
Abstract: Method and apparatus for releasing a metallic binding element (10?) from a sheet metal roll (1), wherein an axial sheet metal edge (8) extends axially across the envelope surface (3) of the sheet metal roll, and wherein the binding element is secured to the sheet metal roll with pre-tension. The location of said axial sheet metal edge (8) or one or more axially protruding sheet metal edges at one of the gables of the sheet metal roll and the location of the binding element are detected to thereby establishing the location of a place where the binding element projects over a sheet metal edge under the formation of a gap (13?) between the binding element and the sheet metal roll. A laser beam (23) is focused onto a part (15?) of the binding element located above said gap in order to locally heat this part and thereby induce breakage of the binding element.
