  • Patent number: 11945577
Abstract: Aerial vehicles may be selectively transitioned between a fixed wing flight configuration and a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) configuration. In the fixed wing flight configuration, a forward propeller may rotate in a first forward plane, whereas in the VTOL configuration, the forward propeller may be tilted to rotate in a second forward plane. A forward landing arm may extend downward in the VTOL configuration and be configured to be tilted to a stowed position when the aerial vehicle is in the fixed wing flight configuration. The forward landing arm may be coupled to the forward propeller such that tilting of the forward propeller causes corresponding tilting of the forward landing arm. In some examples, a plurality of such landing arms and propellers are tilted during transitioning of the aerial vehicle, such as one or more forward propellers and landing arms and/or one or more aft propellers and landing arms.

  • Patent number: 9145909
Abstract: An improved snap-in retainer system adapted to join a first component to a second component. The retainer system includes a clip having a proximal head portion and a distal base portion of generally arrowhead construction. The retainer system further includes a sleeve including an axial passageway adapted to receive the distal base portion of the clip. The sleeve includes window openings defining lateral ports permitting outboard projection of the wing elements following sliding insertion of the base portion to an intermediate stage within the sleeve. The axial passageway further includes a distal neck adapted to compress the wing elements to an inboard orientation within the interior of the sleeve upon full insertion of the base portion into the sleeve thereby facilitating non-destructive withdrawal and disengagement of the retainer system.

  • Patent number: 8322771
Abstract: A vehicle may include a roof panel having a segment that is formed of a thermoplastic material, a side panel having a segment that is formed of a metal, and a connection device. The roof panel may be connected to the side panel member by attaching the connection device to the side panel segment, heating the roof panel segment to melt at least a portion of it, enveloping the connection member within the melted portion of the roof panel segment; and, cooling the components.
