Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for point-of-sale processing of a loyalty transaction within a standard financial transaction through a contactless interface, using contactless NFC communications, wherein responsive to a payment and loyalty point earning and redemption command input to a wallet application of a mobile device, the wallet application initiates a loyalty point balance transaction between the mobile device and a loyalty CRM system in response to which the wallet application stores the available points in the mobile device; and wherein responsive to the mobile device being positioned within an RF field of a point-of-sale terminal the wallet application initiates a staged transaction whereby the point-of-sale terminal adjusts a final transaction amount by the available points for redemption.
