  • Publication number: 20030230306
Abstract: A device for the dosing of a dry additive gas into a breathing gas in a ventilator system, the ventilator system including a tubing system connectable by at a distal end to a patient, and has a dosing tube connectable to the tubing system for dosing to the distal end of the tubing system. The dosing tube is composed of a tube section having a moisture permeable contact surface, adapted to interact with moisture from exhaled breathing gas, so the dry additive gas is humidified before dosing to the distal end of the tubing system.

  • Patent number: 6443150
Abstract: An anaesthetic vaporizer for dosing a liquid anaesthetic has a liquid container for the anaesthetic, and outlet tube from the liquid container to a dosing point, a first regulator for regulating a flow of anaesthetic from the liquid container toward the dosing point and a control unit for controlling dosing. To improve dosing and safety, the anaesthetic vaporizer has a return tube connected in parallel across the first regulator by a first connection point, downstream from the first regulator, and a second connection point, upstream from the first regulator, a second regulator is arranged in the return tube and a third regulator is arranged in the outlet tube, downstream from the first connection point. The control unit controls at least one of the regulators in dosing the anaesthetic.

  • Publication number: 20020104538
Abstract: A manual ventilation bag has a first opening and a second opening, a first soft bag connected to the first opening and a second soft bag connected to the second opening. The manual ventilation bag is advantageously used in combination with a breathing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6374825
Abstract: A dispenser unit for a non-gaseous flowable material has a holder for the flowable material with an aperture therein through which the material can be transferred between into and out of the holder, and a flow meter for measuring flow of the material during transfer. The flow meter has a sensor, for example a differential pressure meter which determines a pressure difference between two locations which are vertically spaced from each other within the holder, one above and one below the surface of the material, at a number of times during the transfer. The meter emits a signal indicative of the flow from a calculation of the rate of change of the determined pressure difference.

  • Patent number: 6328036
Abstract: An anesthetic apparatus has a control unit and a breathing circuit with a connector for fresh gas, a bellows system and an outlet valve. The anesthetic apparatus operates at least as an open system, the connector then constituting an inspiratory part of the breathing circuit and the bellows system and outlet valve constituting an expiratory part of the breathing circuit. In order to reduce the adverse impact of compressible volume in the expiratory section on the functioning of the anesthetic apparatus, the control unit regulates the bellows system during inspiration so that a counter pressure, largely corresponding to the pressure of fresh gas at the connector, is maintained in the expiratory section of the breathing circuit.

  • Patent number: 6298845
Abstract: A vaporizer for vaporizing a liquid anaesthetic has an inlet for a carrier gas, an outlet for the carrier gas and vaporized anaesthetic, a flow channel connecting the inlet to the outlet, a chamber for liquid anaesthetic, a first connection between the flow channel and the chamber, a second connection between the flow channel and the chamber downstream from the first connection and a throttle in the flow channel between the first connection and the second connection. The second connection has a conduit, one end of which is immersed in the liquid anaesthetic, and a valve connected to the other end of the conduit so as to increase safety, prevent leakage and erroneous dispensing and allow the use of liquid anaesthetics with a low boiling point. The valve is devised to open when there is a predetermined drop in pressure across the throttle, allowing liquid anaesthetic to be dispensed into the flow channel.

  • Patent number: 6295985
Abstract: An anaesthetic machine for connection to a patient's airways has a fan with an inlet and an outlet, a first system of flow paths connected between the fan's outlet and inlet, and a second system of flow paths connected between the fan's outlet and inlet. A fast system with wide variability with respect to operating modes is achieved by arranging a shunt valve at the fan's outlet in order to regulate the amount of gas flowing into the first system of flow paths and the second system of flow paths respectively, and a control unit is provided to control the shunt valve.

  • Patent number: 6152133
Abstract: An anaesthetic delivery system has a ventilation arrangement with an inspiration gas pathway for conducting inspiration gas to a patient and an expiration gas pathway for conducting expiration gas away from the patient, and a filter element serially connected to both the inspiration and the expiration gas pathways. The filter element retains anaesthetic from expiration gas passing therethrough and releases the retained anaesthetic into inspiration gas passing therethrough. A supply of flushing gas is communicable with the filter element to flush the retained anaesthetic from the system without passing to the patient.

  • Patent number: 5859631
Abstract: An apparatus front panel has a mechanical user interface in the form of a mechanically controllable regulation and setting elements on the face of the front panel. The front panel is manufactured at least in part from a transparent material in which electrical conductors and components are arranged in order to electrically connect the controllable regulation and setting elements from the face of the front panel with the electrical equipment present in the apparatus via a front panel connection. The front panel is constructed so that it can be attached at least in part to a substantially flat indicia-bearing element such as in front of a screen, in front of a display, or over a printed base or the like.
