  • Publication number: 20210385701
Abstract: It is herein disclosed a wireless device, first and second radio network nodes and methods performed therein for communication. A method performed by a first radio network node for determining a global identity of a second radio network node which is a neighbour of the first radio network node is provided. The method comprises one or more of: receiving length information which specifies a length of the global ID of the second radio network node, from a wireless device which is served by the first radio network node; and determining the global ID of the second radio network node based on the length information.

  • Patent number: 9374820
Abstract: Scheduling of a Temporary Block Flow in a wireless communication system, wherein a type of Temporary Block Flow supported in the wireless communication system is evaluated (310) and a set of packet data channels pre-assigned to the Temporary Block Flow is identified. For a type of Temporary Block Flow supporting dynamic scheduling, carrier scheduling is performed by identifying timeslots (320) available for packet data scheduling for the Transmission Time Interval, determining a new set of packet data channels for potential scheduling to the Temporary Block Flow in the Transmission Time Interval, wherein the new set of packet data channels may include time slots on any carrier(s), and specifying (330) the packet data channels selected for potential scheduling for the Temporary Block Flow as a subset of packet data channels within the pre-assigned packet data channels. Packet data channels are allocated (340) for the Temporary Block Flow in the Transmission Time Interval.

  • Patent number: 9301214
Abstract: In a method in a central node of a cellular radio network the central node is adapted to deciding if a mobile station connected to the cellular radio network via a first radio access technology controlled by the central node is to be moved to another radio access technology when a circuit switched call of the mobile station is ended. It is assumed that the cellular radio network is adapted to use a fallback to circuit switched procedure. First it is decided that a CS call for a particular mobile station has ended. Then in it is checked if the CS call was the result of a fallback to CS procedure. The central node then decides if the mobile station is to be moved to another radio access technology based at least partly on the, i.e. if the CS call was a result of a CS fallback procedure.

  • Patent number: 8731557
Abstract: Handover control in a control node, said control node controlling allocation of radio resources in a first set of cells belonging to at least two different Public Land Mobile Networks, said first set of cells including at least a first subset of cells belonging to a first Public Land Mobile Network and a second subset of cells belonging to a second Public Land Mobile Network. Traffic load exceeding a predefined level is detected (504) in a first cell belonging to the first subset of cells. In response to said detecting, connections in the first cell are evaluated (507, 509) to find one or more connections which could be supported by radio resources in one or more cells in the second subset of cells having capacity for handling additional traffic load. Handover is ordered (506, 510) of at least one of said one or more connections to said one or more cells in the second subset of cells.

  • Patent number: 8315634
Abstract: A method of alternative routing of a service request in connection with a pool 1 of integrated core network nodes. Before a serving radio access node routes a service request to the core network node serving a mobile station it checks if there are any idle terrestrial transmission resources available between the serving radio access node and the serving core network node. If idle resources are available, the service request is routed to the serving core network node. If no idle resources are available, the service request is rerouted to a selected one of the other core network nodes the pool that has idle resources available. The selected core network node receives the service request, recognizes it contains no temporary identification (TMSI) number associated with it and therefore sends an identity request to the mobile station. The identity request triggers the mobile station initiate an update location registration at the selected core network node or at any of the other core network nodes in the pool.

  • Patent number: 7076248
Abstract: An enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node of a radio access network stores context information for a user equipment unit which is in a Connected Mode, and initiates a cell update-prompting message which is transmitted the user equipment unit. The stored context information is used by the context-enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node for addressing the cell update-prompting message to the user equipment unit. After the user equipment unit (which is in its Connected Mode) performs the prompted cell update procedure, such user equipment unit (UE) can be paged with a conventional paging message. The invention with its context-enhanced radio network controller (RNC) node is particularly suitable to user equipment units which are in a critical state of the Connected Mode, such as (for example) either a CELL_PCH state or a URA_PCH state of the Connected Mode.

  • Patent number: 6792273
Abstract: Resources are reserved or otherwise allocated in a mobile radio communications system in an efficient and timely fashion. In general, the amount of resources that will likely be necessary to support a connection with a mobile station is predicted before those resources are actually required. More specifically, an unknown value of a dynamic connection parameter, like a number of radio paths likely to be involved in supporting the connection, is predicted. In the handover context, these radio paths might correspond to paths with different base stations (as in hard and soft handover) or to paths with different base station sectors (as in softer handover). The underlying resources are allocated using the predicted connection parameter and may include, for example, data processing and memory hardware resources, software resources, radio resources, etc.

  • Patent number: 6721568
Abstract: Admission control procedures compensate for delays between radio resource grants and releases using predicted measurement values to permit more accurate admission control procedures in a mobile radio communications system. Initially, a measurement value of a radio-related parameter is obtained. The effect a requested radio resource or a recently allocated or de-allocated radio resource will likely have on the measurement value of the radio-related parameter is estimated or predicted. A determination is made whether to allocate additional radio resources based on the measurement value and on the estimated effect. The estimation time period is based on an interval between the time of allocating/de-allocating a radio resource and the time of detecting the effect of that allocated or de-allocated resource on the measurement value.

  • Patent number: 6438120
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for co-ordination of uplink scrambling codes between different radio network controllers (21) and the assignment of such codes to radio connections (27) of user equipments (26) in a code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. The invention also relates to methods for creating a starting vector used to generate said scrambling codes. According to the invention, a unique subset of scrambling codes is dedicated to each radio network controller (21) by assigning an offset vector (212). Initial starting vectors (215) are composed by concatenating the offset vector (212) and the binary representation of a determining value (216) within the size range of the dedicated code subset. An idle starting vector is selected, e.g., by using a one-dimensional array (217) containing a status bit for each scrambling code and by using the array index (213) as determining value (216).
