  • Patent number: 8955468
Abstract: Method of operating a compression ignition engine on ether containing fuel obtained by on board conversion of an alcohol containing primary fuel and a system for use in the method. The ether containing fuel is prepared by dehydration of liquid alcohol containing fuel in present of a dehydration catalyst arranged in a radial flow reactor within a fuel accumulation chamber in a common rail.

  • Patent number: 8820269
Abstract: Method of operating a compression ignition engine on ether containing fuel obtained by on board conversion of an alcohol containing primary fuel, and a system for use in the method. The alcohol containing primary fuel is heated within a dehydration reactor by indirect heat exchange with ether containing fuel prepared in the dehydration reactor by dehydrating the alcohol containing primary fuel. The ether containing fuel is cooled prior to withdrawal from the reactor as a result of the indirect heat exchange with the alcohol containing primary fuel.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20140170033
Abstract: Method for the preparation of a wall flow particulate filter catalysed at its inlet side with a first catalyst having activity in the removal of residual hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and catalysing at rich burn engine operation conditions the reaction of nitrogen oxides with hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide to ammonia and catalysed at its outlet side with a second catalyst having activity in the selective reduction of NOx by reaction with ammonia being formed in the inlet side. The method involves the provision of a first catalyst having a particle size smaller than the filter wall mean pore size, and a second catalyst having a particle size larger than the filter wall mean pore size, and mixing the first and second catalyst into one suspension, which is used for wash-coating from the outlet end. The first catalyst thereby diffuses into the partition wall.

  • Publication number: 20130014432
Abstract: Method for the preparation of a compression ignition engine fuel, comprising the steps of providing a mixture of a primary hydrocarbon fuel comprising one or more alcohols; and dehydrating in the mixture the one or more alcohol to its or their corresponding ether and water, to obtain the compression ignition fuel.
