  • Patent number: 9713570
Abstract: A mobile treatment apparatus for use in treating a user of the apparatus with medical or therapeutic gases, comprising a mixing unit for containing water and having a motionless mixing means; a gas cartridge unit removably mounted to the mixing unit via a cartridge piercing module, wherein a pressure-regulating valve regulates a flow rate of a gas from the cartridge through the mixing means, to achieve a specified gas-water mixture that is effective for transdermal delivery of the gas to the user; and a wearable receiver suit for forming a space around at least an area of the user's body to be treated, wherein the suit is connected to the mixing unit, for delivery of the gas to treat the area via the transdermal delivery.

  • Patent number: 6924893
Abstract: A microscope system for determining optical properties of a specimen includes a source of polarized light, a detector for detecting the intensity of light incident thereon, an optical path extending from the source to the detector, a condenser for providing light from the source to the specimen, an objective for receiving light from the specimen, a support for mounting the specimen, a sectored variable retarder mounted in the optical path, and a polarized light analyzer mounted in the path between the sectored variable retarder and the detector. The variable retarder has a multiple sectors. Each sector is individually addressable by a control signal that affects the light retardation characteristics of the sector.

  • Patent number: 4004136
Abstract: A credit verification terminal for use in several credit systems includes a dual purpose mechanism for sequentially propelling a user's credit card past a reading head, and for storing merchant identifying and other data that can be read by the head. In one embodiment, the mechanism comprises an axially movable drum containing coaxial bands of encoded data. As the drum is rotated, a selected band containing merchant data is read; further drum rotational propels a credit card past the head, so that the user data contained thereon is read. In another embodiment, a planar card carrier includes a movable table containing parallel stripes or rows of encoded merchant and other data on one surface thereof. The user's credit card placed on the carrier is propelled past the head in one direction, and the data recorded is read; with the card removed, the merchant data is read when the carrier is moved past the head to its initial position. Apparatus for changing the stored merchant information is described.

  • Patent number: 3959585
Abstract: A graphical input terminal includes a pair of resistive sheets separated by an air gap. An energizing voltage is alternately applied to each sheet while an output voltage representative of the position of contact between the sheets caused by the pressure of a stylus, is derived from the nonenergized sheet. A circuit for indicating stylus up/stylus down status without undue interference from capacitively induced voltages is also provided.
