Abstract: A system for providing storage on a vehicle roof is provided. The system comprises at least one partially hollow pillar for supporting the vehicle roof, a rail adapted to being raised and lowered relative to the vehicle roof between a deployed position for receiving cargo and a non-deployed position. An actuator is positioned at least partially along or within the at least one pillar for moving the rail relative to the roof. The actuator may comprise a pinion and a rack providing support for the rail. One or more supports may be connected to the rail for sliding as the rail is raised and lowered, including an active support for raising and lowering the rail in response to actuation. One or more passive supports for the rail may be slidably received in different pillars from the active support.

  • Patent number: 9701266
Abstract: A pickup truck rear end assembly is provided. The assembly may include a truck bed, a truck box, and a bumper. The truck box may be mounted to the bed and define a cavity therein. The bumper may define a reservoir, a reservoir inlet port open to the cavity, and a reservoir outlet port accessible from an exterior of the vehicle. The cavity and reservoir may be arranged with one another such that water entering the cavity passes through to the reservoir via the inlet port. The truck bed may define a gutter adjacent to the inlet port and arranged with the inlet port to direct water thereto. A strainer may be disposed within the inlet port. A filter may be disposed between the inlet port and reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20060132643
Abstract: A deployable monitoring device is provided comprising a self-righting housing and a video capturing device. The housing has a base and an opposed end disposed along an axis, with a center of gravity disposed about the base, and is self-righting along the axis. The housing, when righted, is supported by the base. The video capturing device captures video data of an external scene. At least one stabilizer device is operably engaged with the housing about the base. Each stabilizer device extends radially outward of the base and substantially axially along an outer surface thereof, and is configured to stop rotation of the housing about the axis before the housing is righted, following deployment of the housing. The video data can be transmitted by a transceiver module to a station remotely disposed from the housing, to provide a remote visual depiction of the scene. An associated method is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050179812
Abstract: A deployable monitoring apparatus is provided comprising an ovate housing with a video capturing device and a spatial orientation device operably engaged therewith. The housing has a base and an opposed end disposed along an axis, with a center of gravity disposed about the base so as to be self-righting such that the opposed end extends substantially upwardly from the base. The video capturing device is configured to capture video data of a scene external to the housing, and the spatial orientation device is configured to associate a spatial orientation with the video data. The video data and spatial orientation can be transmitted by a transceiver module to a disposed remotely station, so as to provide a spatially-oriented remote visual depiction of the scene. The housing may also include other devices such as, for example, a deterrent device or a distraction device associated therewith. An associated method is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20040207203
Abstract: My invention is a new approach to the use of energy provided from the natural forces of masses moving in rotational motion. This invention limits the use of exterior energy only at its start and from thereon it runs with its own energy. To complete a useful system some equipments as an electrical generator, compressed air with its reservoir and air compressor are required.
