    Abstract: In one embodiment, a software-defined networking controller obtains endpoint data regarding an endpoint in a network. The controller identifies, based on the endpoint data, deterministic requirements of the endpoint. The controller obtains performance characteristics of the network. The controller configures, based on the performance characteristics of the network, an overlay path in the network connecting the endpoint to a destination and satisfies the deterministic requirements of the endpoint.
