    Abstract: In an embodiment, a transgenic mouse is provided. The transgenic mouse's genetic material includes a Cre mouse TRPV1 protein knockout and a rat TRPV1 cyanreporter protein expressed in a tissue. In another embodiment, a method for producing a conditional TRPV1 knock-in is provided. The method includes mating a Cre mouse with a mouse expressing a rat TRPV1 and cyanreporter protein resulting in a first progeny comprising mice heterozygous for a Cre allele and heterozygous for a rat TRPV1 and cyanreporter allele; mating the first heterozygous mouse with a mouse TRPV1 knockout resulting in a second progeny; mating the second progeny with a mouse TRPV1 knockout; and obtaining a third progeny comprising mice heterozygous for the TRPV1 knockout allele, the Cre allele, and the rat TRPV1 and cyanreporter allele.
