  • Patent number: 11726548
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an adjustable power capacity Power Supply Unit (PSU) includes a circuit coupled within a feedback loop of the PSU that is controlled by an internal processing system. The feedback loop configured to carry a feedback signal for regulating an output power of the PSU. The processing system includes executable instructions that may be executed to receive an output power capacity set point that represents a programmed output power rating of the PSU, and control the circuit to modify the feedback signal so that the PSU generates output power at the programmed output power rating. The programmed output power rating set on the PSU being less than an actual output power rating of the PSU.

  • Patent number: 10698817
Abstract: A method includes measuring an initial voltage a bulk capacitor at a power supply, controlling a power factor correction circuit to disable charging of the bulk capacitor for a predetermined period of time, and measuring a final voltage at the bulk capacitor at completion of the period of time. The method further includes measuring a first average power provided to a load receiving power from the voltage converter, the load external to the power supply, and determining a capacitance of the bulk capacitor based on the initial voltage, the final voltage, and the first average power.

  • Patent number: 10483868
Abstract: A power supply unit includes a rectifying module to rectify an alternating current (AC) voltage, a first bulk capacitor to receive the rectified AC voltage from the rectifying module, a first transistor coupled in series with the first bulk capacitor, an AC input monitoring circuit, and a current source. The AC input monitoring circuit holds the first transistor in an OFF state in response to a detection of an AC voltage dropout. The current source adopts an adaptive gate voltage to control the first transistor in response to a detection of the AC voltage being re-applied, and turns on the first transistor based on the adaptive gate voltage to limit a re-rush current within the power supply unit after the AC voltage is re-applied.

  • Patent number: 9733686
Abstract: A method may include, when a management controller is able to control a plurality of power supply units (PSUs): selecting a PSU of the plurality of PSUs as a master of a current share bus; driving, by the PSU selected as the master, a current share signal on the current share bus; and monitoring, by PSUs other than the power supply unit selected as the master, the current share signal. The method may also include, when the management controller is unable to control the plurality of PSUs: attempting, by each of the plurality of PSUs, to drive the current share signal on the current share bus; and monitoring, by each of the PSUs, the current share signal. Each of the PSUs may output current to the power bus in accordance with the current share signal.
