  • Publication number: 20170353815
Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products are described for using context-aware recommendation techniques to facilitate content discovery on a mobile device platform. In particular, the context-aware recommendation techniques evaluate both a current device context and a social context to generate application relevance scores for each of a number of applications downloaded to a mobile device. Application representations on a graphical user interface (GUI) of the mobile device are rearranged, resized, and/or otherwise affected according to their respective application relevance scores. In certain configurations, one or more applications are pinned, thereby altering (e.g., reducing or eliminating) how changes in their respective application relevance scores affect display of their respective application representations on the GUI of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9715903
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a device, a plurality of image frames corresponding to a video stream. The plurality of image frames include a first image frame having a first resolution and a second image frame having a second resolution that is lower than the first resolution. The method also includes detecting, at the device, a trigger by analyzing the second image frame. The method further includes designating, at the device, the first image frame as an action frame based on the trigger.

  • Patent number: 9565622
Abstract: A wireless communication method embeds service related information, including a version of a service associated with the service related information, within an initial wireless access message. The method may also include broadcasting the initial wireless access message including the embedded service related information. Another aspect of the present disclosure includes a wireless communication method that indentifies service related information embedded within an initial wireless access message. The method may also establish a connection with an access node of the wireless communication network to receive a service when a version of a service associated with the service related information satisfies a predetermined condition.

  • Patent number: 9230240
Abstract: A method of determining a communications contact relevance for a user includes: analyzing stored contact information of a plurality of contacts with which the user can at least one of receive information from or transmit information to; analyzing context information relevant to likelihoods of imminent communication by the user with the contacts, the context information including information different from ones of the contacts with which the user most recently communicated, the context information further including present user context information and at least one of present context or historical context associated with each of the contacts, respectively; and determining the likelihoods of imminent communication between the user and the contacts based on the context information.

  • Patent number: 9216508
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for evaluating signal quality metrics at one or more locations on one or more available paths to a target location by a robotic device, and determining a path to a target location and an access point switching plan for the robotic device based, at least in part, on evaluated metrics. In some examples, evaluating signal quality metrics may include comparing signal quality metrics associated with one or more locations to multiple signal quality thresholds, where one or more of these signal quality thresholds may include a minimum bandwidth threshold. In some examples, the access point switching plan comprises one or more switching events between multiple radio access technologies (RATs) at one or more boundaries. In some examples, determining a path or determining an access point switching plan is based, at least in part, on comparing the costs associated with usage of multiple RATs.

  • Publication number: 20150130641
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a low-cost and low-power smart parking system, and in particular, to forming a multi-hop wireless mesh network that can be used to estimate an occupancy map at a parking facility. The mesh network may be formed according to messages that are broadcasted from wireless identity transceivers corresponding to vehicles parked at the parking facility and include unique identifiers assigned to the broadcasting wireless identity transceivers and unique identifiers in any messages that the broadcasting wireless identity transceivers receive, whereby an occupancy map at the parking facility can be estimated according to the formed mesh network and a known physical layout associated with the parking facility. Furthermore, the broadcasted messages can be used to provide various other parking functions (e.g., contacting vehicle owners, directing drivers to available spaces, assisting with locating parked vehicles, etc.).
