  • Patent number: 9443673
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a method of assembling a folio case. The method comprises molding a set of molded key caps over a flexible fabric layer to form a fabric key cap layer, where the key caps do not pass through the flexible fabric layer. The method further comprises affixing a first portion of the flexible key cap layer opposite the set of molded key caps to an interior portion of a housing, and affixing an intermediate layer between the interior portion of the housing and a second portion of the fabric key cap layer corresponding to the set of molded key caps opposite the first portion. The method further comprises attaching a first portion of a holder to the first portion of the flexible key cap layer configured to receive a computing device, wherein a second portion of the holder is not fixedly attached to the flexible key cap layer.

  • Publication number: 20140261995
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for imprinting fonts on a flexible key cap. In some embodiments, the method for imprinting font on a flexible key cap includes mixing polyurethane (PU) and one or more laser additives to form a PU clay mixture. The PU clay mixture can be infused into a molding tool to form a set of key caps. Some embodiments place a fabric layer over the molding tool and applies pressure over the fabric layer to couple the set of key caps and the fabric layer. A laser marking technique can be applied over a portion of the set of key caps. A characteristic of the portion of the set of key caps can be modified in response to the UV laser application and cause a color change at the portion of the set of key caps.

  • Publication number: 20140071605
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to an apparatus including a housing and a slot disposed in the housing, the slot configured to hold an input device in a plurality of upright configurations including at least a forward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the front portion of the housing, and at least a backward-facing upright configuration such that the input device faces the back portion of the housing. The slot can be overmolded with a rubber compound (e.g. silicon-based) and configured to provide an improved coefficient of friction to reduce slippage of the input device when held in the slot. In some aspects, the housing includes a surface, and the overmolded portion of the slot can protrude above the surface of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20140069792
Abstract: In certain embodiments, an input device includes a key frame having a top surface and comprised of a flexible fabric, and a plurality of key caps disposed on the surface of the key frame, where the key caps do not pass through the key frame. In some cases, the plurality of key caps can be comprised of a flexible material such as polyurethane (PU). The key frame can be comprised of PU or a flexible polyester. The input device can further include an outer shell having an exterior portion and an interior portion and the interior portion having a front side and a back side. The key frame can be coupled to the interior portion such that the plurality of key caps is configured on the interior portion and front side of the outer shell.
