Abstract: Insect repellent compositions are provided comprising mixtures of:(a) from about 5 to about 95%, by weight, of an N-alkyl neoalkanamide having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 are alkyl groups and the sum of the carbon atoms therein is from 6 to 12, and wherein R.sub.4 is either a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having one to two carbon atoms, and wherein R.sub.5 is methyl, ethyl, or propyl; and(b) from about 5 to about 95%, by weight, of N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET).Preferred repellent composition comprise mixtures of N-methyl neodecanamide (MNDA) and DEET which provide synergistic repellency effects against a variety of insects including cockroaches, silverfish, mosquitoes, flies and ants. The repellent compositions may be applied directly to surfaces to be treated or they may be incorporated in detergent compositions such as laundry detergents, floor and wall cleaners, rug cleaners and shampoos, hair shampoos and liquid and bar soaps.

Abstract: A stabilized enzyme-containing built liquid detergent is provided comprising(a) from about 5 to 20%, by weight, of one or more surface active detergent compounds selected from the group consisting of anionic, nonionic and amphoteric detergent compounds;from about 5 to 30%, by weight, of one or more builder salts selected from the group consisting of alkali metal tripolyphosphates, alkali metal carbonates, alkali metal nitrilotriacetates and polyacetal carboxylates;(c) from about 5 to 20%, by weight, of a swelling bentonite clay;(d) an effective amount of an enzyme or an enzyme mixture selected from the group consisting of alkaline protease enzymes and alpha-amylase enzymes;(e) an enzyme-stabilizing system containing, based on the weight of the detergent composition, (i) from about 1% to 10% glycerine; (ii) from about 1 to 8% of a boron compound selected from the group consisting of boric acid, boric oxide and alkali metal borates; and (iii) from about 0.

Abstract: Detergent laundry bars of improved foaming properties during hand washing of laundry are described which include 15 to 45% of a mixture of 0.05 to 20 parts of sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate and 1 part of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid lower alkyl ester, 10 to 60% of a builder for the detergent mixture, a bodying proportion, in the range of 20 to 70%, of water insoluble powder and/or sodium sulfate filler, and 5 to 22% of water (including that which is removable from any hydrate components when the bar is subjected to heating at 105.degree. C. for two hours). Preferably the invented bars will comprise 5 to 20% of sodium coco alcohol sulfate, 10 to 20% of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid methyl ester, 8 to 20% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 15% of sodium carbonate, 1 to 6% of sodium silicate, 20 to 35% of calcium carbonate powder, 0 to 15% of talc and 7 to 11% of water.

Abstract: A particulate laundry detergent composition is provided comprising:(a) from about 0.1 to about 50%, by weight, of a perfume-containing carrier comprising (i) discrete particles containing at least 75%, by weight, of a clay mineral other than talc and/or a zeolite, and less than about 5%, by weight, of surface active detergent compounds; and (ii) a perfume, said perfume being adsorbed and/or absorbed on said particles; and(b) from about 2 to about 50%, by weight, additional to any detergent compound in said particles, of one or more surface active detergent compounds selected from the group consisting of anionic, nonionic, cationic, ampholytic and zwitterionic detergent compounds. The balance of the composition is comprised of water and optionally builder and filler salts.

Abstract: A fabric treating composition for use in preventing the staining of fabrics consisting essentially of an aqueous solution of a complexing acid and a cationic fabric softening agent, the complexing acid and the softening agent being present in amounts so that on dilution with water the complexing acid comprises from 0.01 to 0.1% by weight of the dilution and the softening agent comprises from 0 to 0.1% of the dilution.
