  • Publication number: 20090124950
Abstract: A wound dressing defines bodyside and backside surfaces. The dressing comprises a backing layer defining a center portion and a border portion surrounding the center portion. An absorbent core is connected to a surface of the backing layer within the center portion The absorbent core may be exposed along a bodyside surface of the wound dressing, or various adhesives and non-adhesive substrates may be applied along a surface of the absorbent core so as to define part of the bodyside surface of the wound dressing.

  • Publication number: 20090036999
Abstract: A liner is arranged for use in prosthetic and orthopedic devices. The liner defines first and second end portions, and inner and outer surfaces. The liner includes an inner layer having a frictional component and forms at least part of the periphery of the inner liner surface. The inner layer defines a plurality of apertures. A porous element is in communication with the inner liner surface and is connected to the inner layer such that the apertures permit a transfer of air from the inner surface to the porous element. A base layer adjoins the porous element and extends between the first and second end portions of the liner.

  • Patent number: 7468471
Abstract: A wound dressing includes an absorbent core having opposed proximal and distal surfaces and a discrete skin adherent, apertured facing layer having a distal surface secured to the proximal surface of the absorbent core. The facing layer includes portions of a proximal surface thereof having different degrees of skin adherence.

  • Publication number: 20080269660
Abstract: A wound dressing defining skin facing areas having different degrees of skin adherence. The dressing comprises a backing layer defining a center portion and a border portion surrounding the center portion. A carrier layer is secured to the border portion of the backing layer within the border portion and includes a first skin adherent facing layer. An absorbent core is connected to a surface of the backing layer within the center portion and a second skin adherent facing layer is disposed along a surface of the absorbent core. The first facing layer has greater skin adhesive properties than the second facing layer.

  • Patent number: 7402721
Abstract: A wound dressing includes an absorbent core having opposed proximal and distal surfaces including central and border portions, and a discrete skin adherent, elastomeric gel facing layer having a distal surface secured to the proximal surface of the absorbent core and a plurality of through extending apertures arranged in a pattern. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is applied to the facing layer on at least a segment of a proximal surface opposed to the distal surface thereof. The adhesive layer has greater skin adherence properties than the elastomeric gel of the facing layer.

  • Patent number: 7381860
Abstract: A method for producing a wound dressing wherein a curable silicone mixture is extruded onto a generally planar molding surface. The silicone mixture defines a first surface adjacent the planar surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The molding surface is heated at a curing temperature sufficient to cause the silicone mixture to cross-link. The silicone mixture is uniformly spread over the molding surface such that the silicone mixture has a generally uniform thickness and the second surface is substantially planar. The second surface of the silicone mixture is laminated to an absorbent material after the silicone mixture has started to cross-link and transform to a gel due to exposure to the heated molding surface.

  • Publication number: 20040138604
Abstract: A wound dressing includes an absorbent core defining opposed proximal and distal surfaces including a central portion and a border portion, and a liquid impervious, vapor permeable backing layer connected to the distal surface of the absorbent core. The backing layer defines a border portion extending beyond the periphery of the absorbent core. A skin adherent, perforated facing layer is secured to the proximal surface of the absorbent core. An adhesive layer is applied to at least a proximal segment of the border portion of the backing layer and has greater skin adherence properties than the facing layer.
