  • Publication number: 20170083141
Abstract: The disclosed variable pressure touch system includes an information handling system (IHS) that may take many forms. In one embodiment, the IHS may be a tablet with a touch sensor in the form of a touch sensitive display. A user may apply pressure to the touch sensor with a finger, stylus, or other pointing device. The touch sensor may then generate a current pressure indication of the current pressure exhibited by the touch on the touch sensor. In one embodiment, a touch tool of the IHS may receive the current pressure indication and generate a display image on the display of the IHS that changes as the current pressure indication changes. In other embodiments, the touch tool of the IHS may receive the current pressure indication and generate a visual indicator on the display of the IHS that changes as the current pressure indication changes.

  • Patent number: 9586524
Abstract: An approach is provided for selecting variable message signs (VMS). More particularly, this disclosure relates to personalized VMS delivered to a driver of a vehicle via an on-board display. The approach monitors driver behavior to form a driver behavior history and an analytic analysis is applied to the driver behavior history to determine characteristics of the driver. When a wireless notification is received from an external data provider, the notification is modified based on the determined driver characteristics, and the modified notification is displayed to the driver on a display device visible within the vehicle that is being operated by the driver.

  • Publication number: 20170046859
Abstract: A system or computer usable program product for representing a piece of a road as a first ordered series of line segments connected in an end-to-end fashion; representing the piece of the road as a second ordered series of line segments connected in an end-to-end fashion; for each given pair of two consecutive points of the second ordered series of points, determining a corresponding plurality of in-between points from the first ordered series of points; for each given line segment of the second ordered series of line segments, determining a first traffic characteristic value corresponding to the given line segment and a portion of the piece of the road which the given line segment represents; and presenting a visual representation of the piece of the road.

  • Patent number: 9571580
Abstract: An aspect of resource management includes a multi-tiered storage system and a processor communicatively coupled to the storage system. The processor is configured to execute computer readable instructions. The instructions include calculating a performance weight for each end user of an application. The performance weight is calculated as a function of a current activity level with respect to activities conducted via the application and a type of the application. The instructions also include calculating an input/output weight for each end user from a combination of an input/output requirement and the performance weight. The input/output requirement is indicative of an amount of storage resources of the multi-tiered storage system associated with anticipated activities of the end user. The instructions further include allocating an amount of the storage resources for each end user that is proportioned based on the corresponding input/output weight.

  • Patent number: 9571581
Abstract: An aspect of resource management processes includes calculating a performance weight for each end user of an application. The performance weight is calculated as a function of a current activity level of each end user with respect to activities conducted via the application and a type of the application. The application is typed with a static value that indicates an average amount of storage resources in a multi-tiered storage system used by the application. An aspect also includes calculating an input/output weight for each end user from a combination of an input/output requirement and the performance weight. The input/output requirement indicates an amount of storage resources of the multi-tiered storage system associated with anticipated activities of the end user. An aspect further includes allocating an amount of the storage resources for each end user that is proportioned based on the corresponding input/output weight.

  • Publication number: 20170034099
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system for generating, by a computing device, an electronic message. While authoring the electronic message, a contact shown in the electronic message may be identified that will receive the electronic message when the electronic message is sent. The contact may be associated with a classification based upon, at least in part, one or more attributes of the contact. A visual indication associated with the contact may be displayed based upon, at least in part, the classification of the contact, wherein the visual indication associated with the contact may be displayed while authoring the electronic message and before the electronic message is sent to the contact.

  • Patent number: 9460473
Abstract: Methods and systems may provide for receiving a message, determining a mood condition for the message, and generating a message notification icon based on the mood condition. In one example, the mood condition estimates one or more of a mood of the sender of the message and a mood impact of the message on a recipient of the message. Moreover, one or more additional messages may be received, wherein one or more additional mood conditions are determined for the additional messages, and the mood conditions are combined to form an aggregate mood condition. The message notification icon may be further generated based on the aggregate mood condition.

  • Publication number: 20160275918
Abstract: A system and computer program product for displaying data in a graphical overlay. The system overlays a first lens, including a first dataset, on a first region of the graphical overlay while a second lens, including a second dataset, overlaps the first lens. The first and second datasets are simultaneously displayed, and a correlation between the datasets is determined. Separation of the first and second lenses preserves a circumscribed region within each lens. The first dataset corresponds to first orientation position of the first lens. Rotation of the first lens to a second orientation position reconfigures the first dataset to provide a modified first dataset which corresponds to the second position. A rotational position may also be associated with points in time, a first position corresponding to a first point in time and the first dataset representing the first dataset at the first point in time.

  • Publication number: 20160247083
Abstract: Generating recommendations for an individual based on a mood of the individual. Receiving information corresponding to one or more activities associated with an individual over a period of time. The received information corresponding to the one or more activities associated with the individual is processed to detect a mood of the individual. A recommendation is generated for the individual based on the detected mood of the individual and a future event associated with the individual. The future event has an occurrence at a later time instance.

  • Patent number: 9389748
Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product for visually navigating contextual semantic data in a graphical overlay. The method includes overlaying a first lens, corresponding to a first domain and oriented in a first position, on the graphical overlay. A set of semantic data is displayed within the first lens. Rotation of the first lens to a second position reconfigures the semantic data such that a modified set of semantic data is displayed within the first lens. The modified semantic data and a ghosted image of the set of semantic data may be simultaneously displayed. A rotational position of the first lens is associated with various context aspects. A second lens, corresponding to a second domain, fully overlaps the first lens. Responsive to separating the first and second lenses, a circumscribed region is preserved within each of the first and second lenses while concealing a non-circumscribed region.
