  • Patent number: 7516598
Abstract: A method for permanently deforming a flexible film material, in which the film material is deformed, forming a receptacle depression, the film material being kept under controlled tension while it is being moulded, so that controlled creases are formed in the film material, and a method of manufacturing a product packed in flexible film material, especially a food product, using the method and device for permanently deforming a flexible film material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 16, 2004
Date of Patent: April 14, 2009
    Assignee: Mars Incorporated
Inventors: Richard Merken-Schiller, Stefan Eberhardt, Pamela Czechowski
  • Patent number: 7285083
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing thin-walled containers from film web. The method includes the steps of: manufacturing a tubular structure from at least one film web; forming at least one fold projecting into the tubular structure; and ultrasonically joining sections of film webs of the folded tubular structure lying flat and parallel on top of one another to form the containers. The invention also includes an apparatus for carrying out the method of the invention.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2003
Date of Patent: October 23, 2007
    Assignee: Mars, Inc.
Inventors: Richard Merken-Schiller, Stefan Eberhardt, Pamela Czechowski
  • Patent number: 7231752
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of wrapping products in films, including the steps of: positioning the products on a first sheet of film which is continuously advanced in one transport direction; covering the products with a second sheet of film, which is continuously advanced in the transport direction and which is aligned plane-parallel to the first sheet of film; ultrasonically welding the first and second films on the outer edges of the products in each case and ultrasonically separating the overlapping films at selected positions; separating the wrapped products or groups of wrapped products.
